Joseph E. Sheaffer, 99, of 653 Hamilton St., Carlisle, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, in Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home, Carlisle. Born Aug. 19, 1904, in Shermans Dale, he was the son of the late Harry and Emma June (Clark) Sheaffer and the widower of Goldie A. (Zarker) Sheaffer, who died Feb. 19, 1986. He retired from the former C.H. Masland and Sons in Carlisle after many years of service. He enjoyed fixing things. Mr. Sheaffer is survived by a daughter, Esther S. Knisely of Carlisle; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. Wayne Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in the LeTort Cemetery, Carlisle. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
