    1. [PACUMBER] Re: PACUMBER-D Digest V03 #6
    2. Naomi Long Hopperstad
    3. Yes, it IS important to capitalize surnames ... and the place to start is with the Subject line. I now have Outlook Express and these digests come through as attachments; each one has to be opened separately. IF the Surname(s) are IN the Subject line and are CAPITALIZED, one quickly can scan down the list of messages to see if there is content of interest. To put Roll Call or use the Digest #, or Searching for ... etc., in the Subject heading is meaningless and wastes my time. Most genealogy mailing lists try to stress this point of putting SURNAMES in the SUBJECT line as being of first and foremost importance, with limited degrees of success. Like most persons in this busy world of ours, I don't have time to check the content of every message on these long digest lists to look for a reference to a name I am researching. I've gotten to the point where, rather than work through the messages, one by one, I just delete the entire thing. We so easily could save each other measurable amounts of time by making a habit of following this simple rule. Thank you. 1. Re: [PACUMBER] new listing for Cumberland cemeteries
    2. 1. A tip of the hat and a hearty thanks to those who took the time. I had searched this cemetery last fall for Hoovers and Hoerners but I see that they found some that I did not. Thanks. 2. Does anyone know of any records or searches of the OLD CEMETERY beside the church in downtown Churchville? Apparently this fell into disrepair and was cleaned up with a single monument being erected. That monument has no listings. Tony

    3. The first two sections of Mt Zion Cemetery, Monroe Twp are now on line. Thanks to June & Ken Egolf, Jean & Gary Steffen and Betty Carson who surveyed the cemetery this past fall. What a lot of work. Bits of family history added when known... as well as the Zeamer reading data of 1905. This cem was not available on line previously. Last section is being proofed.... LOTS of folks in this one. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/pa/cumberland/ Should be searable after 7am today..... -- joe

    2. Bob, I am going to add your address to my book. I finally got around to reading your note of December 30 about the dockets. Since I wasn't checking for Simmons I agree that you might be onto something. Josias 's will in Ohio County lists a James and Robert Brown as witnesses to his will and William Faris I believe. I have been away from my genealogy for a few months, too busy, and I want to check the information you sent. In those same dockets it lists Josiah Sr. and Josiah the younger. I know it doesn't mean necessarily father and son, but it appears there were two and of different generations. I will get back with you and give you the names of the books that I have on Cumberland County. Thanks for getting back with me. Jan O'Brien Claremore, OK

    3. I second that motion! I know it makes reading anything genealogical easier to read. I sometimes skip those that aren't if I am short on time.
