Hi... I now believe it is possible Robert FITZGERALD of Philadelphia, and with landholdings in Cumberland County (I suspect he may have lived here once?), may connect to my g,g-grandfather, John FITZGERALD, in some way. Here is his will abstract for Philadelphia. Do any of you know of these ones? He had married a Lydia FORRESTER, d/o Ralph and Tamar FORRESTER. It is not really of the FORRESTERs that I ask, however. Thanks! FITZGERALD, ROBERT. Phila. Block and Pump Maker. April 2, 1812. April 8, 1813. 5.114. His estate in Phila. also land formerly in Rye Twp., now of Juniatta in Cumberland Co., also property formerly of Wheatfield Twp. now of Indianna Co. &c. To wife Lydia Fitzgerald. To dau. Martha. I amen that. I cannot find my fathers grandfather anywhere in the 1880 census. Joanne, Frederick Myers is indeed in the Mechanicsburg cemetery, Sect P, Lot 2. He is listed as Frederick E Myers, b.16 Oct 1847, d. 12 Feb 1915. The owner of the plot is Maria D Myers. Neither she or Annie are there under a Myers listing. There is no other plot owned by Maria, and no one else in that plot. Could she have remarried? Linda

Joanne, I was all over this cemetery today and did not find them. Are you sure they were buried there??????? When I came home, I did a google search for Mechanicsburg Cemetery. The cemetery was there, and they do not have them there. It was about 10 degrees. I got all the Myers stones I could find on my digital camera before the battery died. Will put them online probably tomorrow. Are the records in Adams Historical Society for Cumberland County or for Cumberland Township?
Is the historical society at Gettysburg College? You can find some fairly good records in Carlisle but you would be further ahead to go to Adams County Historical Society in Gettysburg. They have many of the records for Cumberland there. They have early land records. If I knew this earlier, I could have saved myself a lot of brick walls. :Liz
To the List: I would appreciate advice from the list in regards to research on early land records in Cumberland County. I am beginning my research for the period 1750-1800. I plan to review Donna Munger's article and various Pennsylvania Archives, and I have the summary from Ancestry's Redbook. What records are available in Carlisle? Would a trip to Carlisle be worthwhile? Thomas Palmer Researching PALMER in Cumberland County
Philip Jacob MEDER, doctor of medicine, son of Nicholas MEDER from the Electoral city of Mannheim, arrived at Philadelphia about October 1, 175 1, aboard the good ship Janet. He promptly moved west to Lancaster County. December 19, 1752, where he married Maria MERCKEL, daughter of John Merckel. They were married by the Reverend John Waldschmidt who served Cocalico Reformed Church in Ephrata Township, Lancaster County during the period 1752- 1786. January 22, 1755, their son, John Philip, was born. Is there no one with an interest in this line?

It says her parents were George Weigel and Mother Anna Margaret Ditlich. Johann was from born in Germany. I believe this may have been a German community and the Weigel's also German. You might find your Weigle here as they might be cousins or siblings of my Elizabeth and father George Weigle. May be the church has records.
