My grandfather John Hale is buried in Cumberland county. Oak Hill Cemetery (The First English Evangelical Lutheran Church) He lived there most of his life. I have the basics on him (but always we want MORE, right!?) but mainly I seek info on HIS parents. John hale married Mary Bovenmier from Lancaster. And his son John M. Hale (b1803) married Elizabeth Doner, who was born in Lancaster Co, PA ( Carlisle ) I think. So John Hale's parents may be from Lancasrer, or Berks county. They were Lutheran so may have followed the typical path many German emigrants followed. I have a good solid trace from present times to John M. Hale b 1803 in Cumberland. And 90% sure John Hale is the next step, and his dates are 1775 to 1854 or 1856. Thanks for any help. Jim Hale

just curious, could these be the ancestors for William Taylor Robison, born about 1904 (birthplace unknown) who wound up in Piedmont CA (I believe he was an attorney, and yes, he's dead; apparently his only son, his daughter-in-law, and their child are deceased as well) Candy ----- Original Message ----- From: <PattFulton@aol.com> To: <PACUMBER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: March 08, 2003 05:36 PM Subject: [PACUMBER] Re: ROBISON/ROBINSON repost > Is anyone researching the ROBISON/ROBINSON surname in Cumberland Co? I've "rescued" a group of photographs including one of Susan SHEETZ. There is no location noted on the photograph, however, all the other photographs were from locations in Pennsylvania including Harrisburg, Hummelstown, Mechanicsburg, and Jersey Shore. I would guess that the photograph was taken in the 1870's or 1880's and that Susan was in her early teens at the time. A second photograph is of an unidentified woman who appears to resemble Susan, that photo was taken in Mechanicsburg, PA probably in the 1870's. The woman in the second photo appears to be in her 30's at the time. Also recovered from the same source are photographs belonging to the DIPNER, PARTHEMORE, EARNEST, and FISHER families of Harrisburg, Hummelstown, and Jersey Shore, PA. The handwritten names on many appear to have been made by the same hand leading me to believe they are all connected in some manner. I'm hoping to return the photographs to family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

Yes, they do have a lot on microfilm, but there is many more materials. I have worked with them several times, and have found great benefit. they also have extensive picture files. I also have turned over to them some materials that would be of broader interest than just my family.

Is anyone researching the HUMES line? I found James HUMES, in the 1800 and 1810 Censuses for Cumberland Co., PA. He later migrated to Pike Co., OH. where a daughter, Anna, married Isaac ROBISON/ROBINSON, 27 July 1819. Who were James' parents? He may have married Eliz. Hamilton possibly in Lancaster Co., PA. Who were their children? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Patt Fulton e-mail: PattFulton@aol.com
