    1. David R Gardner: Who's Your Daddy?
    2. Ted Smith
    3. I checked the 1880 census and found in Bedford Twp., Bedford County: David GARDNER Self M Male W 60 PA --- --- Catherne GARDNER Wife M Female W 58 PA --- --- Jennie GARDNER Dau S Female W 28 PA Segar Maker --- --- Celia GARDNER Dau S Female W 17 PA --- --- Julia GARDNER Dau S Female W 14 PA --- --- David GARDNER GSon Male W 15 PA --- --- George GARDNER Son S Male W 10 PA --- --- Fred GARDNER Son S Male W 8 PA --- --- I also found: Philip GARDNER Self M Male W 35 PA Laborer PA PA Mary GARDNER Wife M Female W 34 PA Keeping House IRE IRE David GARDNER Son S Male W 14 PA At School PA PA Agnes GARDNER Dau S Female W 11 PA At School PA PA James GARDNER Son S Male W 7 PA At School PA PA Girtie GARDNER Dau S Female W 5 PA PA PA Louisa GARDNER Dau S Female W 3 PA PA PA John GARDNER Son S Male W 1 PA PA PA Amelia GARDNER Dau S Female W 1 PA Pa PA PA Those are the only two Gardner housholds in Bedford that have Daves or Davids in them. I also searched for all Garners in PA born between 1811-1815 and that yielded no Daves, Davids, or D. Gardners. The first household above indicates that David was born about 1820, so it is likely that someone either misrecorded or misstated an age or birthdate. -- Ted

    3. I don't know if this is helpful... According to the Heritage Quest Online's census index, these are the Gardner listings for Cumberland in 1800, 1810, 1820: GARDNER JONATHAN JR PA CUMBERLAND TOBOYNE 1800 GARDNER WILLIAM PA CUMBERLAND ALLEN 1800 GARDNER DAVID PA CUMBERLAND MIDDLETON TWP 1810 GARDNER JOHN PA CUMBERLAND TOBOYNE TWP 1810 GARDNER PHILIP PA CUMBERLAND MIDDLETON TWP 1810 GARDNER WILLIAM PA CUMBERLAND ALLEN TWP 1810 No Gardner listings were shown in 1820 Cumberland; one is shown in Bedford: GARDNER ABRAHAM PA BEDFORD COLERAIN 1820 I pulled up the all the index listings for 1820 Carlisle, Cumberland Co., PA, and did not find even a "mangled" version of Gardner. Maybe one of the 1810 listings is a possibility. Good luck with your search! There is also no stone for William. There are two mentions of William Bushey in the Edna Albert translation of the church records: p. 40 William Bushey & Elisabeth (parents) Sarah Jane (child) b. 27 April 1843, c. 16 July 1843. p. 133 Confirmed on Easter Sunday 1777 Rudolph, Nicolaus, and Wilhelm Buschy, sons of Nicolaus. (ages 17, 16, and 15, respectively.) These are obviously two different Williams. There are plenty of other Busheys in those records, and many in the graveyard. I am interested in the Nicloaus Buschi who is in the Lower Bermudian records with a wife named Catharina, and a child b. 13 July 1763. The sponsors were "Johannes Cranester and Barbara". I would like to find out if Catharina Buschi is the daughter of Johannes and Maria Barbara Chronister, or if they were unrelated.
