Robert: I do not have any information on your William Patterson, but perhaps you might be able to help me. I have a Robert Edmiston, Presbyterian, may have been an Irish immigrant, may have lived in Cumberland Co., PA in the mid to late 1700's, and who bought 100 acres on Stoners Creek in Bourbon Co ca 1783 and may have lived there until he died, inconveniently intestate, in 1798. He may have married Rebecca Killough, d/o Allen Killough of Cumberland Co., PA, who died 1787, leaving 1000 acres, part of which was known as "Three Cousins." which Robert Edmiston sold to Thomas Edmiston in 1793. Robert's children moved to Ross Co., OH, and his son, Robert [m Rebecca Smith in Lexington in 1802], moved on to Logan Co., OH in 1823. One of their daughters, Mary (Polly) Edmiston married an Alexander Patterson, presumably in Logan Co., OH ca 1825. Alexander and Mary may have moved to near Dayton OH and were still living [somewhere] when her father's will was probated in 1847. They had 3 daughters and 2 sons, one named Newell Patterson. I have traced most of the children and grandchildren of Robert Edmiston, d 1798, but I cannot find Alexander and Mary Patterson. Because of the Cumberland Co., PA and Lexington connections, I thought you might have the Edmiston name in your database, or might be able to tell me if there is any connection between my Edmistons and your Pattersons. Thanks for reading this! Hope to hear from you. Michelle Rush
Is anyone familiar with a Peacock or Pidcock family from the Cumberland general area in the early to mid 1700s? Any info would be helpful, given that I have none.

I don't know anything of the Hess family. I don't connect to Cyrus, Agnes or Lewis, but here is some information . . . My grandmother, Ruth Ella Bishop was the daughter of Alfred Martin Bishop and Sophia Amma Thumma. Alfred Martin Bishop is the son of Martin James Bishop and Mary Ellen Tritt. Sophia Amma Thumma is the daughter of Simon Oliver Thumma and Margaret Helen Morris. Martin James Bishop is the son of James P. Bishop and Anna/a Celina (Anceline) Goodhart. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE FATHER OF JAMES P. BISHOP. ANYONE? Anna Celina Goodhart is the daughter of Issac Goodhart and Anna Mary Magdalene Palm. I have more information, more relatives, and more details if you are interested in this family line. These family lines all came through Centerville and many of them are burried in the Centerville Lutheran Church Cemetary. I have pictures of many of the family grave stones in that cemetary.

I am sorry to be this long in getting back to you. I have looked at my line and that of the PA Patterson's and I do not see Massey or Kirkpatrick. If I were to connect to this PA Patterson line they would have been in Chester Co much earlier than 1797. At least according to Conovers book. Good Luck. Robs

Conrad Kinder is said to be the progenitor? Of the Kinders west of the Susquehanna River? Is Kinder in any York County church records before 1820? The very helpful Cumberland County Historical Society has published a most useful index of such records. And I have the Kinder mentioned there. Thank you CCHS I have Daniel Kinder in Allen Township. Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, but there are no church records associated with him in that county. He might be a son of Conrad Kinder. I will be pleased to share what little info I have with anyone working this family. Regards Hal
Hello Group, I am researching Francis Patterson, father of Col. Robert Patterson, of Bedford/Cumberland counties. Robert was one of the founders of Lexington KY. Francis remained in PA until about 1787, when the family migrated to the claims in Lexington. I have seen much information in KY about Robert, for obvious reasons and very little about his family. Specifically, my interest is in his younger half brother William. William and Robert were partners in KY and worked together to make the KY claims ready for the rest of the family. I suspect William is a direct ancestor, as he is in the same areas of KY as my ancestor Jonathan Patterson. I have read Conover's book, "Concerning the Forefathers" and I am looking for new material on this subject. Any help or dialog on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Regards, Robert L. Patterson, Jr. Robs
