    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Dreisbach, Dresbach Classification: Census Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JaB.2ACE/3562 Message Board Post: I read something here in Illinois that Rev. Dreisbach and family were found on the 1830 census for Cumberland Co. PA. Could someone look it up and let me know what town or township they were living in? Could someone also check the 1840 and see if they were still there? I would be forever grateful as he is my GGGgrandfather and I am trying to locate the birth place of his son/my GG grandfather John Martin Dreisbach. This is for DAR. and I need baptismal records for John M. to complete them. I live in Carroll Co. Illinois and would be more than happy to return the favor as well. Any help would be appreciated. TIA, Joy in Illinois

    1. Alexander Mullen (1784-1872)
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JaB.2ACE/3559 Message Board Post: I am searching for information on my direct ancestors. Alexander and James Mullen were sons of Michael and Esther Mullen who came to America in 1770 and settled in Carlisle in 1776. Michael fought in the American Revolution and Alexander and James fought in the War of 1812. James was killed at the Battle of Chippawa. I have found some information online as to Alexander's children (christening records). My father had a larger list of his children with birth dates but I can not confirm this information. From what I can gather, most of Alexander's life was spent in Cumberland Co. If anyone has any information on my family or knows of a geneology society in Cumberland Co that I could contact, please let me know. Email me at [email protected] Thanks

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JaB.2ACE/3555.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Susan, I justed checked the ancestry index. Susan applied for pension on John, but she never actually received it, because there is only an application number, and no certificate number. That would explain why there is no card that I mentioned--she was never a pensioner and didn't receive any checks. It looks like she applied in 1890, so the address on her widow's declaration would be where she was living at the time of the 1890 census. Sorry there wasn't more to that one.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JaB.2ACE/3555.1.1.1 Message Board Post: If you ordered "selected documents" from NARA, one of the copies should be a small card that gives the amount of pension and says: "pensioner died" or something like that, and gives her date of death. At the top of that card would be the widow's name and last known address where the pension check was being sent. Often you find the widow of a soldier living with a married daughter.

Surnames: Van Dorin, Van Doren, Van Dorien Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JaB.2ACE/3558 Message Board Post: Jabez was born in Shippensburg (Cumberland Cty) on April 9, 1797 or 98. He was my gggg grandfather. He married Mary Jane "Polly" Lee and had 16 children. After her death, he married Margaret Smith Hockett and they had three children. Margaret was the mother of my ggg grandfather Reuben. Jabez moved to Indiana and then to Henry Cty, Iowa. His parents were believed to be a John Van Dorin and wife Sarah Osborn. John shows in the 1850 census as living with Jabez, but no mention of Sarah. Looking for burial info on John and Sarah as well as Jabez. John may have been from New Jersey, but there is a discrepancy as to Sarah being from NJ or PA.

    1. CHANGE in mail list operation
    2. joe patterson
    3. A-B Lists change over to the new System MONDAY 14 Aug. and continues through the end of the month for the other letters. Below is part of a Rootsweb staff announcement to list managers. IN a nutshell..... IF you are using SPAM filters you may have to adjust them to receive mail list notices. I am guessing, but some ISP's may bounce some mail as well... ONE point for mail list members..... IF you are subscribed to both the LIST and DIGEST modes with the same email address, only ONE copy will be sent. [NOT sure which one.??] Read on for more...... Joe List Admin Why? The new list management system offers updated technology, better spam control, and more efficient hosting of the lists. When? All the lists won't be updated all at once. In fact, once we [RootsWeb] start, it will take us about two weeks to complete the process. We've posted the additional details about the update and a current update schedule at the link below. http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/migrate_sched.html This page can also be found by following the link found on http://lists.rootsweb.com. If there are any changes to the schedule, we'll update this page to let you know. How will it Affect You? Your current subscription(s) will automatically transfer to the new system so there will be no need to re-subscribe to your list(s), HOWEVER, because the sending and receiving of list email will be handled by a new system, you may notice a few changes to your list(s). Digest subscribers will notice a small difference in the layout, volume and issue numbers of the list digests. The "-L" is being dropped from the "official" list name. This means the "from" address your mailing list emails come from will be slightly different- [email protected] vs. the current [email protected] You may have to adjust your spam filters or put the new address on your "accept" list to prevent it from being caught in your "junk" folder.
