John GRINNELL b. 30 April 1773 d. 28 March 1828 Nathaniel married 2nd Elizabeth________. She was born bef. 1755. Elizabeth died 1813 at N.Y. His family moved to Elizabeth Island when he was young and in 1758 returned to the mainland at Tiverton, where he was a weaver by trade. Two wedding dates are listed on microfilms of local town records in the posession of the LDS Church, 1st 11 Sept. 1756, which is probably the date of their intentions. The 2nd dated given is 1 Oct. 1756. Nathaniel had served in the Revolutionary War as a private in Capt. Daniel VAUGHN's Company of the Rhode Island Militai (24 Dec. 1777 to 24 feb. 1778). It is said that he had bad feet, but was able to ride a horse. In 1790, Nathaniel and his son Gideon ( 1767) are shown as living in Berkshire Co., (Richmaond) Mass. A deed of sale in Tiverton, dated 1780, makes it appear that they moved about that time. According to one family record, nathaniel and John (1773) moved in 1796 to the town of farmington, Ontario Co., N.Y. and yet later moved to Tioga Co., N.Y. to be with son Gideon. GOD BLESS!!!!!!!!
