Linda - Just in case you didn't know, the Pennsylvania legislature mandated the keeping of birth, death and marriage records in 1852. Unfortunately, they discontinued the practice in 1854, probably at least partly because of lack of compliance. In Crawford County, the marriages and deaths are still in existence, although the birth records disappeared long ago. The Crawford County Genealogical Society published the marriages and deaths in one of the society journals several years ago. I would be happy to check those for anyone who is interested.
