It seems I made a big mistake in reading the 1860 census for my Jeremiah Waters, he was a Sawyer not a Lawyer. I should have been more careful in reading the page. Sorry about that. Sandy If Jeremiah was a lawyer, he evidently was not admitted to the Crawford Co. Bar; see http://www.gremlan.org/~yoset/CCo/history/1888/Bar.html Since members of the profession seemed to have usually been called attorneys at that time, I wonder if Jeremiah might instead have been a "Sawyer"?
