It costs the library money (the amount depending on the usage) to have that available for their customers. If you are not a member of the library do not use it with out joining the library. Other people have done this to other libraries and those libraries have restricted the access to only the computers in the library which hurts a lot of their members because they can no longer access the web site from home. We do not need to steal time on other peoples facilities as this only gives us a bad name. If we don't pay our own way, because these web sites cost a lot of money, we will loose access to a lot more. That said you can join the Godfrey Memorial Library which has access for only 35.00 dollars a year. Go to http://www.godfrey.org/ and join. -- Robert Blair -- Robert Blair

    3. I joined Godfrey Library (in CT) last year and access their resources on a daily basis. They provide a wonderful resource at an affordable cost. Plus, I feel like my small payment helps them continue to obtain other genealogical resources to help others! Barb

    3. Are you kidding me? If using a Web site is considered "stealing" where you are from, I truly hope I never visit that deep, dark corner of the world. 3. I agree. My public library offers Heritage Quest to its card holders, and you can obtain a card (if you do not live in my county) for 35.00 a year. This is SO much cheaper than Ancestry.com, and they have census indexes that Ancestry doesn't have. My library requires your library card number to enter the Heritage site, which is as it should be. I hope we would be willing to pay for a card to a nearby public library in order to access such a valuable database. 3. Hello, Maybe I am naive, but I had no idea that this was considered "stealing". I don't understand how you knew this. As far as I was concerned you clicked on some links and used the site. No one asked me for a password or login, so I thought it was available as a internet service. I checked it out a bit last night and today am unable to access it , but would be willing to pay for the valuable information I scanned briefly through. How do you become a member of this site?
