The Lookers and Hatches attended the Richmond (Township) Baptist Church. The church records were transcribed by the local genealogical society several years ago. They don't give a lot of details, but they include: March 8th, 1845 - Bro. Wm. Hatch and his wife Harriet related their Christian experience and Church voted to rec. them to fellowship when baptised. (Sunday, 9th, baptised) April 6th, Sunday, 1845, Bro. Henry Looker came to the water and requested baptism and membership, and after giving a short account of his Christian experience, the Church voted to rec. him to their fellowship when baptized. Him and his wife Louisa were then baptised. ************* Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/TdB.2ACI/1825.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Annette, Thanks SO much for checking! I had not thought of looking at the church records (not that I knew which church, either). The Putnams (my gg-grandfather John Looker married Sarah Putnam, daughter of Alfred, granddaughter of Leonard, also in Crawford by 1840-ish) were Baptist when they were in Chautauqua County, but I knew nothing of the Looker family church "choices". I've seen some obits from McKean County (Henry & his wife Louisa Hatch Looker were both living with son John when they died), but no mention of a church was made. Rose already replied off-list to me. She (and other researchers she's talked with) don't really know either, altho John is the most likely candidate to be Henry's father. I'm an alum from the college up the hill, and I was at the historical society briefly last year. I hope to get there Friday &/or Saturday this week, since I have lots of family (both sides ) to check on, and a great-aunt (Campbell side) to feed me!

    3. Hi - I don't know if this will get back to people who post on message boards but I will give it a shot because I am interested in this one. I have not been paying too much attention but the name HATCH caught my eye. I am a LUPHER descendant and some of my ancestors are buried in the Hatch Cemetery at Guy's Mills, which I understand has recently been restored. In particular I just wonder about "Bro. Henry Looker:" and wife "Louisa". My great great grandfather was Henry LUPHER 1814-1878 of Townville, and his wife was Lavinia (not Louisa) CROUCH. They would be the right age for this to be them and it is known in the family that Lavinia at least was a devout Baptist. They are both buried in the Hatch Cemetery at Guy's Mills. A couple of their grandchildren, that I know of, married Hatches and I wouldn't be surprised if there are other connections that I don't know of. If anyone else suspects that Looker is really Lupher, I would like to hear from them. TIA, Jan At 09:48 AM 8/30/2004, you wrote: >Forwarded from the message board. 3. Hello Jan---Rose Wolford here I'll respond to you directly and tell you that Looker is NOT Lupher but will tell you that when I was in Meadville, Crawford Co, PA 2 summers ago, now, that I met, in person, with the gentleman LUPHER decendant that got, according to his own words, "roped into being the president of the Hatch Hill Cemetery in Guys Mills" We visited, at the Cemetery, for about 2 hrs and he was great to interact with and correspond with too. He gave me quite a bit of info and listing of the inhabitents of the Cemetery and I know Lupher was included; I'll share what info of that nature I have; however, my home office is a whirlwind, and I've got to "relocate" where I put the paperwork from my Crawford Co visit. If you're willing to be patient, I'll be glad to share when I locate the paperwork. I'll be rather busy this week; but perhaps can get to it next week, or so If that's OK let me know Rose Wolford ----- Original Message ----- From: "Janice A.
