I agree with Rob Walton that the information available is well worth the fee. The newspaper abstracts and index are sources not to be found anywhere else, and have provided many clues for me. The cemetery records save a lot of hunting too. The move to the new HQ did not allow a lot of planning, so it will take the volunteers and staff some time to have everything in shape. I have no doubt that more equipment, furniture, etc. is on their wish list. I think it is about time some of us who make extensive use of the library also take some responsibility for keeping it in place. If it means a small fee for use, then so be it. Evelyn
Seems to me that the $15 annual fee is really cheap. My only suggestion is that when someone comes through the door, they should give the visitor a choice--$5 per visit or the annual membership at $15. Perhaps the problem is that they aren't communicating that choice. Is th e membership considered a donation that is tax-deductable? If so, they should mention that. Secondly, having the materials in a very user-friendly environment, with chairs, etc, seems like it would be a first priority. Surely they can find a means of providing a couple more chairs and a flat spot to work with a small budget. Or is the space too cramped? I hope not.
