    2. Many Thanks to everyone who responded to my query on John Brown's Tannery. My cousin was presently surprised. Can any student of Crawford County History elaborate on why John Brown and his family moved out of Crawford County.

    3. Hi Bob- There is a John Brown Museum at Guys Mills, PA. I found this article in a Kansas newspaper http://www.cjonline.com/stories/041502/kan_johnbrown.shtml The Historical Society in Kent, Ohio has a nice website, http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Park/9580/brown.html, which tells his story and has a picture of his birthplace here in Connecticut - in Torrington. This site says he moved out of Crawford County because his tannery was not successful. It also contains much genealogy information about John Brown's ancestors and children.
