Thanks Josh! I appreciate the help. The names I would be looking for would be Amanda Wells Smith, Peter W. Smith, Amanda Hall, Ira Hall, Sylvia Hall, Isaac Hall. Amanda Hall and Sylvia Hall are Peter & Amanda's daughters who married Halls. I don't know if the daughters and their husbands would be buried there, but thought I would give you their names anyway just in case. They are probably buried with their husband's family. It was the cemetery for the Smith ME Church that was across the street...the church originated in 1825 in the schoolhouse that used to stand on the cussewago side of the road...(the church was therefore origionally called Cussewago Church) until they built a building for the church in the mid to late 1800s. There are quite a few Smith's buried there and probably more that that that no longer have stones...if you send me the names, I'll see what I can come up with. I have Smith's in my family from Crawford County circa early/mid 1800s. They died in Cussewago. Don't know if that is a town or township. Do you have an approximate when the cemetery originated? > > Thank you in advance. > > Carolyn > > -- "Josh Sherretts" <josh_sherretts@hotmail.com> wrote: > Hi, I am one of the acting caretakers of Smith Cemetery, Hayfield Township, Crawford County, PA. I am working on trying to restore some of the many missing tombstones in the cemetery. I also have some info transcribed from many of the existing headstones that I can send to anyone looking for ancestors. What I am hoping is that someone either has a map of the cemetery plots (I've tried the courthouse, a few of the historical societies, and a few other places with no luck) or even the name of an ancestor that is buried there to give us an idea of who is in the cemetery. I will also try to help anyone looking for info on the cemetery or anyone there with an existing stone, as I said before. thanks for the help and I hope I can be of help to some of you. > > > Josh Sherretts > > > ==== PACRAWFO Mailing List ==== > Looking for your ancestors in Crawford County?
