I have an entry in a genealogy record from another descendant, that indicates a burial in "God's Acre at Hartstown" Does anyone on the list have knowledge of such a cemetery? And - if so, where a listing of the burials might be available? I did find a God's Acre at Titusville, but that seemed to be too far away to be logical. Lee Gentemann Salem, OR

Does anyone have access to obits in the Titusville newspaper. I am looking for obits or death information for Edward and Nancy Kinne who I last found in the 1930 census age 72 and 73 living in Troy on Diamond Street, boarding at the home of David Peebles and wife. They probably died sometime between 1930 and 1950, by which time they would have been in their 90's. No obits were found for them in the Meadville newspaper. Any help appreciated. Helen W
The Conneaut Valley Area Historical Society has just completed indexing a ledger of a Beaver Center Store during 1866-67. Visit us at http://cvahs.org/ and read the article (located under Beaver Township) to see what your relatives were buying during this time period. Also see the Coburn Scrapbook. We have included information from another scrapbook that has recently been indexed with this one.
Thank You
Does anyone know if there was any research done into the history of a Daniel Miller, one of the first settlers in the Sadsbury area?
Teri, I checked the 1850 census, and I'm sure the wife's name is Susan, age 38, born in NY. I'm not sure this will help you much, but I thought it might add a piece to the puzzle. Thanks for being so complete in your posting of information! In some of my grandmother's notes she wrote that they were natives of NY state, but that they lived in Richmond Twp., Crawford County, PA in 1843. A family tree in an old Bible lists 6 children for them: Prentis N. Jim Elma Nancy Fremanette Livonia Irene Livonia Irene Bresee (b. 1853/4) married Edward C. Wightman -- they were my great great grandparents. Livonia died April 30, 1934 and is buried in Conneaut Cemetery. I have info on most of their children. I have an obituary for Hanna Fremanette Burgess, widow of Charles Burgess, from 1938 I think (the newspaper clipping is badly worn). My grandmother had attached it to a 1984 clipping of a funeral notice for Ethel Burgess Greaves, Hanna and Charles Burgess' daughter. It said Hanna's maiden name was Bresee and my grandmother wrote on the side that Ethel was Livonia's niece. Hanna and her daughter Ethel are both buried in Cambridge Springs Cemetery according to the clippings. Prentis N. Bresee -- My grandmother must've done some research on him at one time. There are some notes she wrote that say 10/28/1837, Trumbull Co, OH (birth??). He lived in Richmond Twp with his parents in 1843. He married Mary R. Marsh (born Medina Co, OH) on 6/11/1861. Children are listed as Effie, Wilbur, Chester and a fourth child that was deceased. I have no information on the other children -- Jim, Elma or Nancy Bresee. I found a James Bresee, born 1849, in 1880 in Vernon. It said his parents were born in NY. He had a wife, Emma, and daughters Gerta, Jessie and Bertie. I don't know if he is the right "Jim" or not. I'd appreciate any information on this family! Thanks in advance!

Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg//TdB.2ACI/1796.1 Message Board Post: According to a note by Harriet (VanHorne) Leberman, in the VanHorne file at CCHS, Elizabeth VanHorne was b. 23 Apr. 1794, and d. 16 July 1866, bur. VanHorne family cem. According to a biography of John Z. Anderson, who married Elizabeth's daughter Sarah [Eugene T. Sawyer, History of Santa Clara County, California, Los Angeles, Calif.: 1922, pp. 783-784] Elizabeth WAS a daughter of Cornelius VanHorne. Elizabeth's children were left $500 by Cornelius' daughter, Jane (VanHorne) Anderson in 1872, though that doesn't prove a relationship. It is true, Elizabeth could not be the daughter of Cornelius' wife, Sarah Dunn, whom he did not marry until 1798, but since Cornelius was b. 1750, he was certainly old enough to have been Elizabeth's father, even though there is no record of his being married to anyone in the period 1793-1794.
Would appreciate the names of the parents of Julia Herrick Shontz (1830-1913). Julia and her husband, John Shontz were living in Vernon Twp in 1880.
In the obit for John Joseph Hirst it states he had a life story written about his life in the Cleveland Leader news paper by J. H. Cogswell, shortly before his death, September 20, 1888. I would love ot find this write up on John J. Hirst. At the time of his death he was living at 145 South Franklin St., Titusville, PA. I hope your Society can help me find this story. Thank you so very much for any help you can offer me in finding this story, I have an obituary written about him at the time of his death. Ruth Tomlinson
