Wen: The 1876 atlas listed property owners. Your ancestor was a renter, so the 1876 atlas won't show it. The 1900 census--as all censuses--had lots of federal census tracts and districts. They have nothing to do with land ownership, and change from census to census, so there would be no connection between the 1876 atlas and the 1900 census. If you would make note of the people who are listed near him in the 1900 census, who own their farms, you might get lucky and find some who'd owned for 24 years and did show up in 1876. When I saw them about 10 years ago, at the Milledgeville Presbyterian Church, their records began in the mid-1850's. I'm not sure what church you mean by the "French Creek Presbyterian Church." If you mean Cochranton, the church records begin in 1847, and the originals are at the Pres. Historical Society in Phila. However, Rev. S. F. Smith, the pastor at Cochranton, 1827-1846, kept his own baptismal and marriage records and they were published in Vol. 5 of Crawford County Genealogy. There is also a list, published in CCG, of church records held by the Presbyterian Historical Society, but I cannot lay hands on it just now. If I recall correctly, some of Gravel Run's records are in Phila., and some are still held locally. Creek: If someone has already asked this question, sorry. Does anyone on the list know about available records, if any, and how far back they go for French Creek Presbyterian Church, Gravel Run Presbyterian Church, Reformed Church in Saegertown, Milledgeville Presby Church? I am interested in finding out if there is a marriage record at one of these churches for Lorinda Lydia Long of Woodcock Township who married James Smith of French Creek in about 1835. I am interested in any baptismal records which might still exist. Were all these records sent to Philadelphia or might they still be available in Crawford County? Thanks in advance.
