    3. Robert and all others I am in the midst of transcribing the 1860 Census for Crawford Co but cannot offer lookups unless you know the actual page number (at present that is the only index but when I finish it will be indexed.) Another person is doing the 1850.. The 1790 thru 1820 are at the following site. http://www.gremlan.org/~yoset/ It would be nice if someone could do the 1830, 1840, 1870, 1880, 1900, 1910, and 1920. or the 1890 Veteran's Schedule Feel free to volunteer at http://www.usgenweb.org/census/index.htm There are many census transcriptions listed on rootsweb. 3. Barbara, I would love to see a comprehensive, stand-a-lone genealogical web site for Crawford Co. Is it possible to have a web site where one would have up-to-date census information as available from NARA (www.nara.gov) ? This so you would not have to travel to a NARA facility to view the microfilm ( or at least to a major library that participates in the NARA microfilm rental program ? Or is this wishful thinking ? I was searching the internet and found a Seth Stone Hill lineage which I downloaded and reviewed. I was amazed on how close things were to the line I was researching. It had Seth Stone Hill, DOB October 14, 1776, married to Mary Ann Gorman DOB November 22, 1790. I have a Seth Hill DOB unknown, birth place Pennsylvania, married to Susan Gorman, DOB unknown, birth place Pennsylvania. Note the different first name to Gorman. The Seth Stone Hill to Mary Ann Gorman had son Luke Hill, DOB unknown, lived in Indiana (this is fact) farmer and carpenter (this is fact), married to Mary last name unknown, DOB unknown. I have Seth Hill married to Susan Gorman, son Luke Hill DOB June 8, 1826 Pennsylvania, married to Mary Ann Myers DOB 1827 Pennsylvania. The Seth Stone Hill to Mary Ann Gorman, son Luke Hill married to Mary, son Seth Hill, Andrew Hill, and daughter Ann Hill. I have Luke Hill Married to Mary Ann Myers, son Seth J. Hill, DOB June 8, 1848, Ohio. Notice how close the dates are and names are. Here is some more. The offspring of Seth Stone Hill and Mary Ann Gorman were listed as Luke Hill, Net Hill, Joseph Hill, Charles MCNair Hill DOB March 19, 1930, Titusville Pennsylvania. Based on this new discovery (not proven yet) I was wondering if you could look up this line for me in Titusville Pennsylvania. I have tried the genealogy society and not much luck on the Hill Lineage. I did however get a lot of information on Gorman, but no hits. take care, and thanks a bunch, Bill ---------- From: Pat Vedner <vedner@toolcity.net> To: bstill@ctaz.com Subject: Re: Hill -and Edwards [PACRAWFO-L] Part 5 Date: Friday, March 26, 1999 3:58 PM Sorry Bill, that was all that was in the COBURN scrapebooks that you requested a lookup from. 3. It would be great if Crawford Co. researchers had the Gen Connect capabilites. How about working with Richard Harvey to get these capabilites added to the site that he administers? It seems to me that Crawford Co. doesn't need a third genealogical web site for researchers to keep track of. The gen web sites that use GenConnect seem to offer so much more flexibility for users to share and search for information. They also appear to be less work for the site administrator since the query process is automated. Cheers, Kipp

    3. Dear All, Is Richard Harvey no longer going to be the County Coordinator for Crawford County, PA? If not, and you plan on taking over, I would LOVE to see the various GenConnect Boards become a part of the Crawford Co., PAGenWeb pages. It would give, ANY of us, unlimited opportunities to share what documents we have. I, for one, have several obits and wills that I would like to get online and by placing them in the GenConnect system, it places the surnames, from the posted documents, into a nationwide search engine. I would love to see the GenConnect Boards be implemented for the Crawford Co., PA website. Online Census records are an invaluable source of information for the Internet-prone Genealogist. I live in Michigan but have tremendous ties to Crawford Co., PA and am not likely, in the near future, to make a trip to the County for research. To have access to this type of online data would be of tremendous value. Looking forward to hearing what other PACRAWFO-L mailing list researchers have to say. 3. Before we get our knickers in a knot.... No one has said Richard Harvey is leaving. I am proposing a new Crawford County site that does have all the things most genealogist look for in a County Genealogy Web Site. I want this to be a special project. I have contacted Nancy Trice to inquire as to whether we can have all the query boards etc. and not actually be part of the USGenWeb system. The fellow who is the SC for PA wasn't aware that there was anything lacking from Richard's site. Wonder when he last checked. There are tons of possibilities! He and his family removed themselves to Lorain Co., OH in abt 1822-23. His daddy was "Isaac" and I don't know his mamma's name. He may had brothers: William, John, possibly others. Question: Is there "still" a Brokenstraw Twp? and if so, where? I can't find anything on my PA map nor the rootsweb Crawford Co. page. Question: Is there anyone doing BAILEY research in Crawford Co? If so...please let me hear from you. BFN... Diane Decker-Warneke mailto:warneke@wingsisp.com

    2. Sandra Schroeder
    3. I was just going to send this to persons who had previously listed John Brown, but found too many in the archives and decided the list was easiest. Wealthy, daughter of Charles and Maria (Beach) Hotchkiss, was born in Gustavus in 1829. While a school girl at the famous and now time-honored school of Austinburg, she met John Brown, Jr., son of "Ossawatomie" Brown, of Kansas fame, and afterward the martyr of Harper's Ferry. These young people united their names and fortunes for weal or woe, in Vernon, then her father's home. They went to Kansas in time to have part in the conflict between the advocates of slavery and of liberty over the extension of slave territory. The life of the Browns there was part of the history of "Bleeding Kansas." After the hopeless conflict at Harper's Ferry, when John Brown, Jr., was suspected of being in that conspiracy and his arrest was decided upon, bravely she stayed by him in their fortified cabin (in Dorset, we believe), and shoulder to shoulder was ready to help defend it. When the United States Marshal came as near as Jefferson with his small posse he was assured that one thousand men could not take John Brown, Jr., out of Ashtabula county, and he retired. Finally a quiet retreat was found at Put-in-Bay, where Wealthy Hotchkiss Brown still resides. p. 375-376, Pioneer Women of The Western Reserve, Gustavus, Trumbull County published July, 1896 Sandy Roche Schroeder (SamiWV) slschroe@intrepid.net Volunteer for Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnraogk/index.htm
