    3. Hi. I've recently received new information on some family members from Crawford County but we still have a few missing pieces. Does anyone out there have any information on a Lucy Ann HARRIS, she married Caleb THOMPSON. They had three children and they were from Corry. We've received information on the THOMPSON family, but nothing about Lucy Ann HARRIS, if it helps any, Caleb THOMPSON is the son of Joel THOMPSON and Mary MULVIN. Any information that anyone can share would be wonderful. Thanks, Eleanor Brown e-mail sezme@oakharbor.net

    2. Barbara Farthing Bonham
    3. Hello researches, I have received many emails over the past few days from "newbies" asking questions about Rootsweb, it's organization and purpose. Rootsweb is far more than the email mailing list; it is a community of researchers. The latest figures show only about 7% of the users support Rootsweb financially and the burden for the expense falls solely on the creators, Karen and Brian Leverich. I urge all of you to visit http://www.rootsweb.com and take a look around. Consider the reasons you use the system. Consider maklng a donation or a pledge. Have you visited a county site that has space on Rootsweb.com and found a link to your family either in the archives for that county or a query posted. Did you know every, yes every message that passes through the various mailing list that reside on Rootsweb are archived and searchable? There are no filters except for obvious SPAM. Rootsweb as we know it today started back in the old Fido-Net days by Karen using her position at Rand Corporation to utilize computer space for Roots Surname Listings. For those of you who do not remember or know what Fido-Net was...it was the internet of the 70 and 80s to most of us. Long before Prodigy, AOL, Delphi and yes, GEnie, there was the Fido-Net. I had an old 286 with 4 meg memory and a second telephone line for my bulletin board called The Family Snitch. At any given time there was at least 50 uses. Some just wanted the email capability, others the usenet groups where genealogy over a modem got started. Quoting the USGenWeb site http://www.usgenweb.org; "In the spring of 1996, a group of genealogists organized the Kentucky Comprehensive Genealogy Database Project, which evolved into the KyGenWeb Project. The idea was to provide a single entry point for genealogy data and research for all counties in Kentucky. In addition, the information for each county would be indexed and cross-linked to make it easier for researchers to find a name or data that they sought. In June 1996, as the KyGenWeb Project was nearing 100% county coverage, interested volunteers decided to create a similar set of pages for all states, establishing The USGenWeb Project. Volunteers were found who were willing to coordinate the efforts for each state, and additional volunteers were sought to create and maintain websites for every county in the United States. Although The USGenWeb Project was originally designed to be organized by state and county, much genealogy data cannot be limited to a single county, or even a single state. So, USGenWeb Special Projects have evolved to collect and disseminate data that goes beyond county and state lines. The USGenWeb Project is still growing, and there are always opportunities for new volunteers to adopt county or state pages or participate in a Special Project". When you consider making a contribution, please consider the contribution of your family data. There are literally thousands of surname boards on GenConnect hosted by Rootsweb. Most surnames as well most counties have a compliment of boards that include wills, bios, obits, pension files and Bible records. I hope some of this answers some off the questions. Explore the internet and use the search engines. I personally found one of my hottest leads while doing a search on HotBot. Good luck and enjoy your search. 1. [PACRAWFO-L] Bollard
    2. Second installment . . . The second line of Bollards to come out of Crawford County, Pennsylvania began with: David ___ Bollard (1829-1907) was born on 12-23-1829 in __________, England. He came to the U.S. at age 20, a farmer by day and a shoemaker by night. He settled in Conneaut Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania in 1850. He married Hannah Jane Groves (1841-1890) on ___- ___-1854 in __________. She was born on 2-___-1841 in __________, the daughter of __________ and __________. They had seven children, (1) Lydia Marie Bollard (___-___), (2) Lewis Grove (probably Groves) Bollard (1859-1917), (3) Charles F__ Bollard (1862-1927), (4) Winchester D__ Bollard (1865-1873), (5) Mary J__ Bollard (___-___), (6) Minnie ___ Bollard (___-___) and (7) Frank D___ Bollard (1874-1917). Hannah died on 7-29-1890 (at the age of 59 years, 5 months and 28 days) in __________ and was buried in the Conneaut Center Cemetery with her son, Winchester, who had died in 1873. David died on 7-23-1907 in __________ and was buried in the Conneaut Center Cemetery with his wife and son. I have a theory that David Bollard was the son of one of the brothers of John H__ Bollard, but it is only a theory. The person I have the most information on is #2, Lewis Grove Bollard who married Lillian Martha Crockett. Their story is as follows: Lewis Grove ("Groves"?) Bollard (1859-1917) was born on ___-___-1859 in __________. He married Lillian Martha Crockett (1864-1946) on 11-5-1882 in Penn Line, Crawford County, Pennsylvania. She was born on 4-4-1864 in Conneaut Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of William B__ Crockett (1841-1898) and Susan Augusta (Norris) Crockett (1845- 1878). They had 5 children, (1) William David Bollard (1883-1944), (2) Clarence Band Bollard (1885-1960), (3) Riley Lewis Bollard (1887-1968), (4) Velma Augusta Bollard (1897-1985) and (5) Myron Crockett Bollard (1905-1989). He was a prosperous farmer. Lewis died on 8-27-1917 (at the age of 58) in __________, Pennsylvania and was buried on 8-29 in the Linesville Cemetery. Lillian died on 4-11-1946 in Linesville (at the home of her son, Myron) and was buried on 4-13 with her husband. Don't get me wrong, I do have information on the other 6 siblings of Lewis. Again, the surnames of the families who married into this branch of the Bollard family were: HERRICK, CROCKETT, MANNING, OWENS, GEHR, HUTCHISON, CARLSON, LADNER, FLOWERS, GILLILAND, HORTON, SCHAUB, HUEY, STOKELY, ROBERTSON, RAGER, PUCKETT, HENRY, WILFRED, LOOMIS, ROBERTSON, STORLL AND HERBOLD. Don Bollard 816-471-6900 (daytime) 4107 W. 102nd Street 913-648-6312 (evenings) Overland Park, Kansas 66207 Again, thanks for any help you can give me no matter how small the piece of information. 1. [PACRAWFO-L] Bollard
    2. Good morning. Here is my contribution to the roll call: Two lines of BOLLARDS came out of Crawford County, Pennsylvania. They are no doubt connected, but I have not found the common connector yet. So I will answer the Roll Call in two parts. Maybe someone out there has the connection. The first line involves the descendants of John H__ Bollard and Elzina __ (Barnum) Bollard. This branch is having its 100th Family Reunion on 17 July 1999 in Linesville. JOHN H__ BOLLARD (1811-1878) was born on 12-31-1811 in Hampton Parish, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England. John was a shoemaker by trade, working seven years to learn his trade in England. He came to America in 1837. John landed in New York, went to Canada for a short time, then by way of Buffalo and Niagra Falls to Ashtabula County, Ohio. He bought a farm in Geneva and lived there for eight years. John married ELZINA ___ BARNUM (1819-1869) on 2-2-1841 in Geneva, Ashtabula County, Ohio. She was born on 10-10-1819 in Geneva, the daughter of Enoch ___ Barnum (1786-1875) and Emma Amelia (Hotchkiss) Barnum (___-___). They then moved to Harpersfield, Ashtabula County, Ohio for a year and then, in the Fall of 1850, they moved to Conneaut Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania near Linesville. They had 8 children (1) ANN ELIZABETH BOLLARD (1841-1926), (2) MARY JANE BOLLARD (1843-___), (3) RICHARD D__ BOLLARD (1847-1924), (4) HOMER ENOCH BOLLARD (1849-1926), (5) FRANCES EMMA BOLLARD (1854-1869), (6) JOSEPH BENJAMIN BOLLARD (1858-1903), (7) JOHN E__ BOLLARD (1859-1892) and (8) SARAH ELZINA BOLLARD (1861-1937). Elzina died on 1-24-1869 (at the age of 49 years, 3 months and 10 days according to her gravestone) in Linesville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania and was buried in the Conneaut Center Cemetery (also known as the Thayer Cemetery). John died on 9-20-1878 (at the age of 67 years, 8 months and 20 days according to his gravestone) in Linesville and was buried with Elzina. Incidently, RICHARD D__ BOLLARD (#3 above) married EMMA __ LAWRENCE and moved to Pocahontas, Pocahontas County, Iowa. They are responsible for a huge pocket of Bollards there. They are having a reunion the weekend after the Linesville Reunion. ALL BOLLARDS ARE RELATED AND, THEREFORE, I AM INTERESTED IN ANYTHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH A BOLLARD. Obviously, down through the years, others have married into this branch of the Bollard family. Those surnames are: WYATT, WATERS, LAWRENCE, BEAN, BOTT, TYLER, EARLY, STREAM, MCCLELLAN, MCCORMICK, STRICKLER, LYON, LUCAS, FLAHERTY, WALROD, LIKE, BUCHOLZ, CARNES, MCCONNELL, PENEFIELD, GREBL, GREINER, GRABLE, WINEGARDEN, WISER, COLLINS, STELPFLUG, EICHLER, CARNEY, FELTON, OLESON, BRETTHAUER, STARR, LITWILER, AND WHEELER. I have a great deal of information on all of these names. If any of you see a possible hit, please get in touch with me. I will share anything that I have in return for whatever research you have. Don Bollard 816-471-6900 (daytime) 4107 W. 102nd Street 913-648-6312 (evenings) Overland Park, Kansas 66207 THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION! Don Bollard dcb@gvi.net or johnreb@sound.net stb@gvi.net

    3. I am new at this, so hope I do it right this time. Thank you Barbara. I am looking for my Rachel Morris family. She was married to Castle Wescott. Her obiturary does not tell of her parents, but her death certificate of Oct. 26, 1916 shows her having been born in Ohio and her father as Lawrence Morris born in Ohio and mother as Cassiah Relyah birth place unknown. I do know there was a Rev. War solider of the name of David Reyla who came to Crawford Co. from New York, but I have not been able to find Cassiah as one of his children. I wonder if anyone out there knows of this family and can shed some light for me. Thanks in advance. 3. Looking for help in Crawford County. I believe a Mary Ann Myers was born about 1827 in Venango Pennsylvania, Cranberry Twp. I found a family tree listing for George Singrey Myers married to Eleanor Burns. Their were many children, of which it list a Mary Ann Myers without date or place of birth. Others preceding her listing and after her listing are showing a birth location of Venango, Pennsylvania. According to the lineage, it shows the census for 1850 (26 Sept. 1850) Rockland Township, Venango, Pennsylvania lists the sisters of Mary Ann, Saraha Myers, and Esther Myers. I believe if they are listed Mary Ann should be also. This might produce a date of birth corresponding to the date I have for Mary ( 1827) Any help would be appreciated, thanks again, Bill bstill@ctaz.com

    3. Hello Crawford County, Presently, members of the HENRY surname list are building a web site that contains an index of their HENRYs. When completed, it should be helpful to many HENRY family historians. I have been asked to conduct a search for links to HENRY online resources like personal web pages, and county and local genealogy association resource pages. If you have substantial HENRY information on your web page or know of HENRY information on your county or other local web site, please send the links to Judy Henry at jchenry@flash.net , so that they might be included in the new HENRY site. 2. Barbara Farthing Bonham
    3. Cousins, When using the GenConnect try using subject lines that are reflective of the content subject. For example when you post a Will; don't just put WILL. Use the name of the person i.e William Crawford 1880. Instead of DEED; put William Crawford - Venango Co. PA. We know it is a WILL or DEED simply by the fact it is posted there. The idea is to get someone to click on your posting and either respond or gain information. The key is to get them to look at it. Thanks for supporting the boards. 2. I thought some of you might find it interesting to see what was paid for items in my GGGrandfathers estate auction. Jacques Joseph PIE (pronounced Pee-ay) came to the United States in 1846 from Courfaivre, Switzerland which is close to the border with France and about 30 - 35 miles from Basel. With him was his married daughter, Marie Anne (Mary Ann), wife of Joseph Ferlin and his 5 remaining children: Eleanor (Later wife of Francis Anderhalt), Francois Joseph, Agustus (Justin) Joseph, Blair (Blawshaw/Blashan) Joseph, and Martin Jean. His wife, Marie Citherlet Pie had died prior to his emigration to Crawford County, PA. The surname evolved into Pee * Pees. However, as indicated by a hand drawn copy of his passport and his own signature on his will, it appears that the original spelling of the surname was PIC. A later biography of Justin Pie, his son, indicates that the family came up out of Italy in the 13th Century. After his death on either the 1st or 3rd of Aug 1852, his executors, Francis and Justin Pee held a public auction to resolve his estate. It is interesting to note that the Purchaser's names were listed. Perhaps some of you are related to these purchasers.
