Linnea,...am not related to any one in the cemetery...Patricia Valesky my sister in law is very active in the church across the road from the cemetery...and is familiar with names of people buried in the Betts cemetery...she could be very helpful...wish you success with your search...the Sisley information was one of the names in Nancy Anderson's search...sorry about mix up... regards...Jennie Sloan Valesky
Nancy, My original question was that I wanted to know which county State Line was in. I have been there before, but wasn't sure if it was in Mercer or Crawford. My ancestors mostly lived in Ohio, but did business in Jamestown, and some are buried in State Line. The names I am researching that would be at State Line are McCormick, Bates/Betts, Kinne, Royal. I am related to F.Y. Royal through marriage (his second wife was Emily Pratt- I descend from her daughter, Nancy Wade McCormick) from a first marriage). FY Royal's mother was a Yokes. Then I descend from Rev, John Bates & wife Susannah Royal. Their daughter was Charlotte who married Lyman Kinne. They are all there. I am not related to the Sisley's (I don't think), but they were neighbors of my Fitch/Kinne family in Kinsman, OH. I'll check on the name, but it was a Sisley who came over to assist my ancestors when babies were born. I have an old letter that discusses that! Also have Anderson's from Mercer County. Please e-mail me directly if you'd like to exchange notes! Linnea Peltola
Would like to jump in here - didn't see the original posting. Could someone send it to me, Please? I have ancestors and recently deceased cousins in that cemetery. I was there in 1998 to visit. Don't know if I can be of any help but might be related to whoever is searching this. Some of my names in that cemetery are YOKES, KINNEY, WILLIAMS, SISLEY. Nancy O. Anderson

Jack: I have been in touch with dale and Florence, and they gave me the clues that helped lead me to the original of maud mcgranahans letter to Jessie Free Collins, 2nd wife of edgar collins. I am still searching for Carl, flora Morse's son with edgar. I have no other info on Flora at all, nor carl. as far as James Henry Free, I do not know who he is either, I am stopped at Carl Collins. I do not know if you were responding to my posts on these people but i thought to write anyway. gloria ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! The State Line (Betts-Bates) Cemetery is in Crawford County. It is across the road from the State Line Methodist Church, and about 1/2 mi North of the Crawford/Mercer line. It is listed as State Line Cemetery on the Crawford County site. Can I help you find information there?
Can anyone tell me if the Betts State Line Cemetery is in Crawford County or Mercer County? I'm pretty sure it's in Crawford, but didn't see it listed on either county web site. Thanks.......Linnea
I have done extensive research on the Free family of Crawford county. As to the Collins family, I wonder if you tried to contact Dale and Florence Collins of Espyville? I feel certain that they can be of help. Both are active at the Crawford County Genealogical Society. I wonder if you have any data on Flora Morse; i. e. when/where born/died? James Henry Free was living in California at the time of his death on 5 Nov 1939. Jack Moselle

Many of us who have been at this research for sometime may have prematurely uploaded our ancestral information to either Family Tree Maker, Rootsweb or Ancestry.com. Since the internet is becoming the "mother of mistakes" in genealogy research, you may want to check to see if your old database is online. If your file is in need of refreshing or deletion, instructions for handling are the Number One item at: http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/questions.html#gedcom Hope this information helps someone... Hi, Arline - I found a few bits and pieces which might help. Barney Robinolt married Julia Ann Kimmey, 31 Oct. 1841 (announcement in Crawford Democrat, 9 Nov. 1841). I was in the court house briefly, and checked a few deeds, and wills. There was no will for Daniel, under any spelling. There was no record that he purchased any land in Crawford Co. However, I found at least two deeds involving his wife and (I think) son Daniel Jr. Deed Book I-2:276, made 3 Dec. 1852, recorded 1 June 1854; Sarah Robinault of Randolph Township to Daniel Robinault of the same place, for $100, 45 acres in Randolph Twp., part of a tract purchased by Sarah 17 Jan. 1843 from James Hamilton. Witness: Margaret Robinault. DB I-2:277, made 25 Aug. 1853, recorded 1 June 1854, again between Sarah and Daniel (Jr.?), $200 for another 45 acres in Randolph Twp., part of same tract. DB I-2:494, made 31 May 1854, recorded 4 Aug. 1854, Daniel Robinault and wife Elizabeth Jane of Randolph Twp., to Abraham Alsdurf of N. Shenango Twp., for $600, the above two tracts of land in Randolph Twp. There were also some deeds relating to Barney, but I did not have time to check them. Obviously some of the sons stayed here until the mid 1850's, at least; and, I would suspect Sarah began purchasing property in her name after the death of her husband, but that's just a guess. Thanks to all (Nancy, "Evelyn", Sandy) for the alternate route to Tom Yoset's Web site. That different route solved the problem completely. Tom's site is great. I'll use it to plan my big trip to Meadville. Bob Calvin (Researching Crawford County for .......... Dr. Robert Andrews CALVIN (1847-1905), Lucy HAMILTON Calvin (1849-1909), David Steel CALVIN (1822-1849), John CALVIN (b. c. 1800), Mary ANDREWS Calvin Logan (1823-1894), Moses LOGAN (1814-1893), Robert ANDREWS (b. 1770 in Ireland), Sarah CHIDESTER Calvin (1790-1845), James CALVIN (B. c. 1767), Katherine ACHESON Calvin. Most probably were both born and died in Crawford County, PA. Also C. Virgil Calvin (1885-1971), born in Crawford County, resided there until about 1912 or so. Known LOCATIONS in Crawford County include Greenwood Township, Harmonsburg, Meadville, Conneat Lake area, N. Shenango Presbyterian Church, perhaps Geneva.)
To Answer two Questions: Centerville is located (and I'm pretty sure has been since the creation of Crawford County) in Crawford County. It is located on PA? Route 8 between Titusville, PA and Union City, PA. Just a couple of miles (if my memory is correct) south of the intersection of Route 77 and Route 8. Harmonsburg is located on Route 18, where it intersects with the Harmonsburg road (there is a traffic light). Route 218? intersects with Route 18 about a mile south of the village. There a fair size cemetary (for a village) on the east side of Route 18 about halfway between the light and the Route 18/Route 218 intersection. I do not recall where the second cemetary is. Karl . . . I'm sorry it's taken so long to get back to you. We had a death in the immediate family and it rather devastated us. I've checked the PACRAWFO-L List Roster and you are correct; I don't find [email protected] listed which would explain the *no mail*. The only address I show at that domain is this one [email protected] . It doesn't look remotely close to yours. RootsWeb did a server replacement about the time your mail stopped. They have had a lot of problems since because they installed a new release of software at the same time. They don't even have then all resolved yet but are working feverishly on it. I would guess you could have been *bumped* during some of their girations. The cause could even be something as simple as a temporary problem on your ISP's end which would cause you to be dropped after a set number of bounces. I suggest just subscribing again. If you'd like me to put you back on, just let me know if you prefer List or Digest mode. ~~ Kathleen _____________________ ~~ List Administration ~~ [email protected] -- ----- Original Message ----- From: "karl" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, July 02, 2002 8:36 AM Subject: [Crawf'rd] No email > I am not getting the Crawford County List email any more and I don't know why, I was then it stopped.
