    3. Hi All, I'm looking for a woman maiden name Galbreaith, who would have been old enough to take care of her 5 year old sister in 1843. The Sister is Margaret Galbreaith born 1835 in Crawford County to William and Jannett Galbreaith (both buried South Shenango Cemetery). In Margaret's obit in South Dakota in stated that she lived with the sister after her Mother's death. William brought two children with him from Ireland when he came in about 1818. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks Patty in MN at [email protected]

    1. [Crawf'rd] William, John, James Western PA abt 1800 to mid 1800's
    2. Sharon Paulson
    3. First the locations that I have for the following is in Indiana, Co., Clarion Co., Crawford Co., and Armstrong Co., PA. There are possibility's that they lived in other counties as well. The time period that I have is abt 1798 to the mid to late 1800's. Members of these families ended up in Iowa. I believe the William Graham b. 1798 living in Armstrong Twp., Indiana Co., PA in 1850 may be the brother to my John Graham. Wm. at one time lived in Plum Creek, Armstrong Co., PA. My John was born in Armstrong Co. in 1805. Wm. m. Prudence Green Getty. They had children: Jane, Rachel, John, Abel D., William E., and Washington E. William was thought to have had a least 4 brothers: Erwin, Andrew, James, John. Now if we look at John Graham: John m. Mary Lopeman. they had children: Andrew, James Thomas, Sarah J., Mary A., Nancy A. Mary Lucinda, Polly Lavina, John B., William H., Elmira R., Carnelia E., and Chester E. I realize that these are for the most part common names. But.................... Looking at John's names they seem to follow a naming pattern in the order of birth. Hopefully the following won't be confusing. It is a naming pattern that I see in the John and Mary Lopeman Graham line. Andrew, Mary Lopeman's father (William had a brother Andrew, but we have to ignore this because of Mary's father's name) James Thomas could possibly be John's father Sarah J. could possibly be John's mother Mary A. - Mary Lopeman's mother Mary Johnston Nancy A. - Mary Lopeman's sister Mary Lucinda - possibly John's sister Polly Lavina - ? John B. - Mary Lopeman's brother William H. - possibly John's brother Elmira R. - Could this be Elmira Rachel? Cornelia E. - ? Chester E. - Is this possibly Chester Erwin - Wm's brother The question marks. They could have liked the names or they could be middle names of those that we don't have. Does anyone have any information on William or his brothers, Erwin, James, John, and Andrew? Thank you, Sharie Oceanside, CA

    3. Hi Sharie, Thanks for responding to my message, you wrote: >How far back do you have your Andrews? > >I have Andrews across the state border in Ashtabula Co., OH. Also my James >Graham of Crawford Co. m. Olive Filena Andrews, she of Ashtatabula Co. >...... Also the date of the Andrews/Graham marriage was 1852. I think there is only a very slim chance that your ANDREWS and mine are connected. My ggggrandparents, Richard Andrews and Susannah Kelly emigrated from Cork, Ireland in 1825 to Peterborough, Ontario, Canada with their five chidren. Two more children were born in Canada. Four children were girls and three boys, one of the boys died young. The family moved to Buffalo, New York in the 1830's where they all settled except for their son, my gggrandfather, Jeremiah ANDREWS 1810-1877 who became a doctor. He 1st married Deliah WELD and they had i. Wesley R. ANDREWS b. 1837 Warren Co., Pa; m. Rubie Annie ROBINSON ii. William Henry ANDREWS b. 1840 Warren Co., Pa. m. Rose Ann EDDY & m. Mary Adelaide FRY & Jeremiah married 2nd Sarah Clark JACKSON and had iii. Ellen ANDREWS b. 1853 Pa.; m. Luther S. LAKIN iv. Charles ANDREWS b. 1857 Jamestown, NY; Jennie HAZELTINE v. Della M. ANDREWS b. 1858 Pa; m. E.T. WHITE of Minnesota The only line that you could possibly be connected to is Jeremiah ANDREWS' brother William ANDREWS who lived in Buffalo. I don't know who he married but I do know he had a least one child by the name of William P. ANDREWS who was living at 114 Cleveland Ave., Buffalo in 1892. William P. may have had a son William H. ANDREWS who married Edna DICKERSON at her sister's, Mrs. Charles J. McIvaine, jr. of Mill Creek, Ardmore, Pa. in 1909. The William ANDREWS of Buffolo could have other children, I just don't know. Is there anybody who sees anything here of interest? - Edward Coates Sinker now living in Herefordshire, UK

[I wrote a genealogical article on the Roberts brothers who built >it about >20 years ago, but I don't have the building's entire history.] My great-grandfather, Charles Jackson ANDREWS was proprietor of the hotel in the 1880's & 90's possibly into the next decade. I have photocopies of the Titusville City Directory dated 1890-91 & 1893. The first has this advertisement: HOTEL BRUNSWICK, Titusville, Pa., Rates reduced to $2.00 per day. Elegantly furnished with every convenience of a strictly first-class hotel. - C.J. Andrews, proprietor then this entry: ANDREWS, C.J., prop. Hotel Brunswick, 57 to 63 W. Spring, res 165 N. Perry. the 1893 directory had these entries: ANDREWS, C.J. proprietor Hotel Brunswick, 61 to 63 W. Spring. ANDREWS, Frank R. asst manager Hotel Brunswick The entry for Frank R. is rather amusing since he is my grandfather and was only about nine years old at the time. There is an excellent book titled, "Sketches in Crude-Oil" by John J. McLaurin, 1898, which you might be aware of. This book contains dozens of photos and biographies of people who were involved in the early days of the oil industry in that area of Pennsylvania. I will just quote a small part of it concerning Col. Edward A.L. ROBERTS & my great-grandfather: "On the palatial Hotel Brunswick, which he built and nurtured as the apple of his eye, Col. Roberts lavished part of his wealth. He decorated and furnished it gorgeously from cellar to roof. The appointments were luxurious throughout. If the landlords he engaged could not meet expenses, the Colonel paid the deficiency ungrudgingly and sawed wood. Finally the house was conducted in business-style and paid handsomely. For years it has been run by Charles J. Andrews, who was born with a talent for hotel-keeping. "Charlie" is well-known in every nook and corner of Pennsylvania as a "jolly good fellow," keen politician and all-round thoroughbred. He has the rare facility of winning friends and of engineering bills through the Legislature. He is head of the Liquor League, a tireless worker, a masterly joker and brimming over with pat-stories that do not strike back. He operates in oil and base-ball as a diversion, is a familiar figure in Philadelphia and Harrisburg and popular everywhere." A few years ago, Val Adkins, who wrote for the Meadville Tribune and who has since sadly passed away, place a letter of mine in the paper looking for information about my great-grandfather and the hotel. I received a letter from Jack Proper who lives in Titusville to say that his maternal grandfather, John J. Wakefield had been proprietor of the hotel and that Jack had been born in the hotel in 1920. In 1885 a nephew of my great-grandfather's was killed in a accident involving the hotel elevator. I have copies of several newspaper article about the event. The nephew was the son of William "Bull" Henry Andrews who was later to be a senator for Crawford County in the Pennsylvanian State Legislature and following that he was a congressional delegate for the territory of New Mexico. Another brother of my g-grandfather, was Wesley R. Andrews who was owner and editor of the Meadville Tribune and later secretary to Senator Boise Penrose and later he was Chairman of the Republican Party for the State of Pennsyvania. A few years ago I knew almost nothing about my Andrews relations who are on my mother's side of the family. Charles J. Andrews left his wife for someone else and the family never spoke about him or his brothers. If there is anyone who has information about my great-grandfather or the hotel, I would be very interested to hear from you. - Ed Sinker now living in Herefordshire, UK

    2. Many thanks to all who replied to the CONSIDER family. I was thrilled to get the info. In trying to determine who my grandmother's mother was, I have concluded that her mother must have been Marie Kilinger who must have died sometime before the 1880 census was taken. I have not ben able to find any death records of same , but Joseph is later married to Josephine and their children are who I remember as my grandmother's siblings. Any further info. will be greatly appreciated. Thanks' Joanne Dunleavy

    3. Hi, I have photocopies of about twenty pages of the book and can confirm that it is a very interesting one to have it you have an interest in Titusville in the late 1800's. The only photo I am missing is the one of the Brunswick Hotel which my great-grandfather was proprietor of. Just one thought, the Titusville Herald reprinted the book in 1979 and again in 1983. Perhaps it might be worthwhile emailing the newspaper to see if they either have copies still available or are considering another reprint. - Ed Sinker now living in Herefordshire, UK

I was hoping it had geneological bio's in it/about people & early settlers; however, more about county history than anything. But, useful none the less. As a matter of fact, this is the same person I got the Crawford Co book from. This person is prompt in mailing and things arrive in good shape. Good luck if you decide to bid; if you haven't a clue how to work ebay, and wish to bid, contact me for a helping hand--glad to bid for you. email me privately.
