I'm new to the list and am wondering if there are any members who are researching the HAUER/HOWER line. Hans Michll Hower arrived in Philadelphia in 1737 and established a farm, in Berks County, by the early 1840s. My wife descends from his son Michael. His grandson, another Michael (1751-1824), is buried at the Union Cemetery, in Catawissa. Some of his children moved on to Numidia and beyond. Other surnames, that are connected and were or might have been in Columbia County, are: RHOADES/RHODES, KERN, OLWINE and FAUST. Thanks for any help. Bob Thompson
Dear Bob, Faust is a big name in my family on the recent end of life my grandmother Herbine was a Faust and was one of 8 children the name being originally spelled Foust. There are also a ton of Faust/ Fousts buried in Odd Fellows cemetery in Danville Montour county and I have a list if you would like to E-Mail me privately. This is all on my Dad's side . On my mom's side the Rhoads /Rhodes family shows up from the Pottstown area marrying into the Dingee family. which married into the Bates then Dodd family. If any of this helps I am at sherbine@rdtnet.net At this time I have no Hauer/ Hower in my line but the Herbines did come from Berks to Berwick.
