July 6, 1789 in Lebanon Twp., Hunterdon, NJ) and Amy Bodine (b. October 15, 1786). They were in a group of settlers (names listed) who moved from Jerseytown, Columbia Co., PA to Southwold Twp., Elgin Co., Ontario, Canada in 1811. There were probably others. They went to the Talbot settlement and there took up land. Abraham Bodine and his wife, Zellah Taylor also went, a sibling or cousin? of Amy. Would like to know the parents of Amy and Abraham. James and Amy Best named one of their children Amy Force Best. Anyone know of an Amy Force that she was named after? James sister, Mary Best (b. December 2, 1790 in Lebanon Twp., Hunterdon Co., NJ), also took this trip. She married John Robbins and died soon after. James and Mary were the children of Michael Best (b. May 2, 1764) and Anna Unknown (b. February 27, 1757). They do not appear to have made the trip to Canada. Their other children were Jain Best (b. July 2, 1785) ! > and Henry Best (b. January 15, 1793 in Lebanon Twp., Hunterdon Co., NJ) (The names and dates are in the James Best family Bible.) Family memories indicate the Jerseytown location. Michael Best is believed to have been English or of English descent and a school teacher. > Thanks for any help. > Joan Best > >

All the names you mention are prominent Columbia co., names and sprinkled through my database. Have you tried the Columbia County website? http://www.columbiapa.org/county/historical/index.html Maybe you'll find something in the J.H. BATTLE bios... If any of my people (above) connect, please let me know.
