Hello! I am looking for information regarding my great grandfather, William Rhoades. He was born in Centralia, PA in 1885 and grew up in Shamokin, PA. I believe his father's name was Peter Rhoades. His family received indoor and outdoor help from Almshouses. They were known to the Shamokin and Coal Township Poor Board. He married Jennie Brobst in Bloomsburg, PA in 1907. Some of their children's names were Lawrence, Adeline, Mary, Robert, Effie, Ruth, John, and Jimmy. The family moved to Maryland for a short while in the 1920s. William moved to Wilkes-Barre in 1942. He worked as a chef at the Sayler's Cafe until he retired. He died in Wilkes-Barre. The service was at Christ Lutheran Church. The funeral home was Kniffen Funeral Home. I have talked to the funeral home and discovered that his information was probably lost in a flood. I believe he died in the 1950s. I would appreciate any help finding information on my family. I would also like to find out information on the poorhouses of the area. Thanks in advance, Christy
