    1. ADEY, ADDY, EADE, EDDY OR OTHER SPELLINGS
    2. Hi, I just recently joined the list and have relatives that were born in Berwick in 1840-1850. There are so may different spellings of the name it is very confusing to research. My great grandparents were Charles and Mary Adey (?). I have found different spelling on each census. They probably moved to Hazleton about 1875 and had two daughters Alice and Florence. Alice married Charles Matthews and moved to N.J. Florence married Arthur Shelley and also moved to N.J. Arthur Shelley died in 1946 on vacation in Berwick. Thanks, Pat Matthews

    3. I would like to welcome those of you new to this site and tell you there are some really great folks who are willing to help just for the asking. I, myself do Volunteer research at Andersonville Civil War Prison in Andersonville Georgia. Any research I do is absolutely at NO cost and I am willing to do what I can. My sources are the following....... There are 2 online databases to do lookups.....One by name...one by Company and Regiment. I also have a copy of the Dorence Atwater Death list which has the names and grave numbers of some 13000 graves with only 460 marked as " UNKNOWN " This along with a CD I have which contains 34,000 names of the 45,000 who were imprisoned there which helps me find prisoner records because of misspellings of the names or alternate names. I visit the prison site every couple of weeks and have access to the onsite databases as well as the physical files. I would like to let you know of another service I offer which is to take photos of graves for a small fee. Please see my website which is dedicated to those who passed through the gates of Andersonville. Kevin Please visit my website at http://www.angelfire.com/ga2/Andersonvilleprison/index.html

    3. Kelly Taft Krause wrote . . . << Can anyone tell me what Derry Township changed to? Well, Kelly . . . Derry hasn't changed into anything. It's the same township, with the same name in pretty much the same place it's been since it was created. It's the counties that have changed and may be what's got you stumped. Prior to 1815, Derry Township was part of Northumberland County. At that time, Columbia County was formed from Northumberland and Derry became part of it. Later, 1850ish, Montour was formed from Columbia and Derry, once again, was part of the portion broken off into the new county. Washingtonville is its main town and, I believe, only borough; one of two in Montour County. To confuse you a little more, before Northumberland, the area would have been Lancaster County. General settlement of this area began around the close of the American Revolution. Since Northumberland was formed in 1772 from parts of Lancaster, Berks and Cumberland, I doubt Derry's history preceded it's formation. Hope this helps point you in the direction of search. 1. Obituaries Look-Up
    2. Anne Marie
    3. I was wondering if anyone who would have access to the newspaper microfilms could possibly look-up two obituaries for me? One may be too old. The first is for John Keifer (Kiefer) who died October 1, 1885 in Catawissa/Roaring Creek Twp./Mainville area. The other is for his wife, Elizbaeth C.Keifer who died August 20, 1900 in Catawissa/Roaring Creek Twp./Mainville area. Both are buried at the Freewill U.B.Cemetery in Roaring Creek Twp. They had lived in Mainville almost all their lives. In return, I can do a look-up on the 1830 or 1900 Columbia Co. census. Thank you, Anne Marie
