Hello! Can anyone help me with the name of a funeral home in Bloomsburg with a director named possibly Powell or Newell, etc.? My great aunt, Carrie Belle Jacoby, died in Union County at the E.A.B. Home (d. 12-17-1969) but was prepared for burial by a funeral home whose address was 325 Market, Bloomsburg, PA. She was buried in Creveling Cemetery, Almedia Columbia Co. PA. Does anyone know if I can still contact the funeral home or the cemetery for some information on her? Also, Aunt Carrie (b. 01-16-1877) lived her whole life in Bloomsburg, Pa and as far as I know, was a housekeeper; she never married. Is Bloomsburg close to the EAB Home in Union County? I am just curious as to why she was put in a home there, as opposed to one in Bloomsburg. Thank you for your time! Joan
Looking for the burial site of Anna Marie Vandling Carter Shell and her 2nd husband Christian Shell. After Christian (or Christopher) died she migrated to Dixon, Lee Co., Illinois with her children. We think she also followed one son, Peter V. Shell, to Kansas. There are some of his children buried there. We think she also went to Barton and/or Jasper Co., Missouri. Some of her descendents are buried there. One son, James P. Carter went to Nebraska. Some history has her married a 3rd time to an ULP and buried in PA. Could she be buried with this name? Her will, filed in Barton Co. MO has her son Peter as executor. There is no mention of the name ULP. Can anyone please help. Thanks a million. Millie

In response to dallen3@isd.net, there is a source for county maps for the state of Pennsylvania. These maps are available through the state for $1.25 each, are black on white, approximately 18 X 24 inches and show county roads/highways/townships/etc. They are referred to as Type 3 maps. There is also a county outline map available of the entire state showing county seats. I have personally ordered several of these maps and found them to be quite handy and infromative. Once you get t the site you must scroll through several pages until you get to the section labeled "maps". Below are 2 hyperlinks which may help. The site requires Adobe Acrobat which can also be downloaded there. ftp://ftp.dot.state.pa.us/public/pdf/pub12.pdf http://www.dot.state.pa.us/penndot/reginfo.nsf/Publications?ReadForm Gene
Perhaps all those who responded to Bruce's request about Columbia County maps would care to also do so to this list? Or maybe, Bruce, if you have the time, would you post a synopsis of the responses? I'm sure there are many who would find this information valuable. Thanks everyone! Linda Allen dallen3@isd.net

FYI-The Montour County Genealogical Society, which formed about a year ago will be moving into the Thomas Beaver Library on East Market and Ferry Street in June. As of right now, we do not have a place for our resources and can not do quieries. Once we are in the room we will be equiped to help researchers. Membership is $10. and $15. family. We welcome all 'family trees' and are collecting everything and anything! We are really building a great surname file! If you are interested in joining or can donate a copy of your family tree, please contact me privately and I will send you an application. Montour Co. was formed from Northumberland and Columbia counties. Thank you, Lynn <mrsr@sunlink.net>
