    2. Hiya Listers, I got this from rootsweb's email server and if I am reading the error message correctly..... the following didn't make it to the list. So..... I'm sending it along in case one of you can help Mel out. Excuse me if this did get thru and I didn't see it... (chuckle, I do that sometimes!) Anyway, send your response(s) to Mel at: lader@gwu.edu Thanks, Bob Puckett List manager for PAMONTOU & PACOLUMB. Hello, I am new to this list. My primary Drescher/Thrasher line is from Sullivan County, but while researching original church records in Dushore last week I found a notation that my g-g-grandfather, Adam Drescher, was born in Columbia County, not in Luzerne as previously thought. He was born to George and Catharine (Fox) Thrasher in 1815. By 1830, the family had moved to Cherry Township, Sullivan County. Does anyone have any information on the Drescher line from the early 19th Century in Columbia County? What is their connection, if any, with the Luzerne Drescher/Thrashers? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Mel Lader Alexandra, VA

    1. Looking for a Hotel
    2. Sue Herbine
    3. In the 1910 census My great grad uncle Albert C Herbine is listed in Montour twp. Columbia County enumeration district 30 as being a hotel keeper. It also lists Cora Shephard as being his housekeeper but also says she works for the hotel so I am thinking he lived at the hotel. He was the black sheep of the family and my aunt only knows that no one talked about him and when he died he left 3 properties to my grandfather. My aunt suspects now that I have discovered Cora that it was because he was living with her but never married. Any information on Albert, Cora or this mystery hotel would be lovely. We do not know his death date but since my aunt remembers it and my dad does not it was after 1930 but before 1935. Thanks a bunch Sue

    3. I pulled off the web in a Genealogy .com site ( so it is a paid site) a record from the Wilkes-Barre Record of Oct 29,1902 a listing of the children from the Nescopeck Schools with perfect attendance for the month of October. It goes from first primary to high school listing the number of children in each class and their teachers name and the high school principle but only lists the names of children with perfect attendance. ( my great grand father Fred Herbine was one of them ) My printer at the time was poor so the list will not scan well but I would be glad to do look ups for any one who thinks their ancestor had perfect attendance or was a teacher in 1902. 1. Church History
    2. Where can I get a copy of the Mooresburg Presbyterian Church History, 1834-1974? It lists Hannah Carter, 1852. (I have one sheet) Is this just that she was in attendance that year? Did she join that year? Your help would be appreciated! Millie Conrad

    1. Hannah, wife of John Lunger
    2. Can anyone tell me the maiden name of Hannah, wife of John Lunger. She is buried in the Old Chillesquaque Presbyterian Cemetery near Pottsgrove, PA. She died in 1830 (60 years old) according to reading in the Chillesquaque History (put out by the church). We went back to cemetery 2 times and the date she died is actually 1880. My supposition is that she is the daughter of William Carter - who is buried next to her. He names a daughter Hannah in his will which was written 1853. Can anyone help me with this person. Thanks. Millie Conrad

    1. Children of Hannah Black
    2. In Hanna Black's will dated June 19, 1843 (Columbia, CO. PA) whe lists her children: Richard, William, Mary Gibson White intermarried with George Tyson, Jane intermarried with Jeremiah Black, James. Grandchildren John and Hannah, children of Richard.

    1. Columbia County, PA School Children
    2. I have a copy of 1 page of "Columbia County, Pennsylvania School Children, 1811 - 1829" by Harriette M. Wheeler. In this it lists children whose parents were not able to pay for their schooling. It gives "family name, following which are given the township, the year, and the children's names and ages." Black, James, Derry 1814; William, Mary; 1815; Mary 10. Does this read that William and Mary where James Black's children? Or does this read that James Black was in school in 1814, that William and Mary were in school in 1815 and that Mary was 10 year old? Does anyone know anything about these children? Who their parents were, etc." Thanks. Millie

    1. History Annals
    2. In the book "Historical and Biographical Annals of Columbia and Montour Counties it lists a John BLACK as subscribing 1 pound to a "preaching subscription." Quote: Nov. 24, 1784, is the date of the oldest record extant containing a partial list of those who were first here. It was a subscription paper, drawn by Gen. William Montgomery's hand and entitled 'Preaching and Subscription.' It was not especially sectarian, and as all men in those days were deeply religious in faith and pined for the expounding of God's word, it is quite probable that the list contained nearly every head of a family then in the county who was able to subscribe towards the desired fund..........The list is here given in full, and following it is such an account of their descendants as it has been possible to gather from some of the oldest citizens." Does anyone know who this John Black is? Thanks. Millie
