    3. In The Commemorative Biographical Record of Central PA there is mention of a Slabtown located near Milton, Centre Co, 1801. Since I have the CD , it only has biographies on it. I don't know if this book contains other info or not. There was also a Slabtown in Elk/Clearfield Co (near the border). It is gone now but a copy of an old map I have shows it near the intersection of 255 & 555. It was called Slabtown because the houses were built on "slabs". Probably built to accommodate all that were moving there to do lumbering.
