Ken and Dianne, I have a grandmother, Mary Margaret BROOKS married Jared WELSH b. March 11, 1762 in Bucks Co. b. Jan 24, 1748/49 in Ireland d. aft 1838 in Lock Haven, Clinton Co. PA d. July 18, 1828 in Lock Haven Another grandfather of mine was given the name of George BROOKS ELDRED from around Mill Hall and Beech Creek. Mary Margaret BROOKS would be his grandmother. Could this be the same Margaret BROOKS that was married to James Shaffer?
Margaret Brooks married to James Shaffer was the daughter of Benjamin Brooks. Benjamin b. 11 Apr 1753 Tinicum Twp, Bucks Co, PA, d. 24 Dec 1838 at Huntley, in what is now Cameron Co, PA; daughter Margaret b. 29 Jan 1790 in Tinicum Twp, Bucks Co, or Philadelphia, PA, d. 20 Feb 1876 Grove Twp, in what is now Cameron Co., PA. I do think this is the same Brooks line. Mary Margaret's father is reported to be Thomas Brooks-Benjamin had a brother named Thomas.
