    1. Re: Information on Boonesville
    2. Hi Louise, According to Linn's History of Centre and Clinton Counties, page 645, "Booneville is situated on the main or Summerside road leading through the valley, about two and a half miles west of Logansville, on the north side of Fishing Creek. The land on which it is located originally belonged to the Wistar tract, and was purchased in 1834 by Dr. Samuel Strohecker, of Rebersburg, Centre County. Subsequently it was divided and sold to different individuals, that portion on which the village stands passing into the hands of John and Ralph Boone, by whom lots were first laid out and sold in 1866. Hence the name Booneville." This is listed on a page titled "Logan Township" in Clinton County. I believe the valley referred to is Sugar Valley. Page 642 of the same book has this about Logan Township: " What is now Logan Township was originally included in Miles Township, Centre County, and was organized previous to the formation of Clinton, in 1839." Page 167 has this about Jacob Boone: "Marsh Creek, from its confluence with the Bald Eagle (Creek) to Jacob Boone's saw-mill, about five miles, Jan. 16, 1813." This is in reference to Marsh Creek being declared a public highway. Page 48 lists "Jacob Boone (saw-mill)" in the inhabitants of Howard Township, Centre County in 1810. Page 49 lists "John Boone" as a Single Freeman in the same year in Howard Township. Hope this is of some help. Diana Mason
