    1. Re: Information on Boonesville
    2. Louise, Booneville is in Logan Township, Clinton County, PA. Referring to John Blair Linn's History of Centre and Clinton Counties, Pennsylvania (Philadelphia: Louis H. Everts & Co., 1883), p. 645, we find the following: BOONEVILLE is located on the main or "Summerside" road leading through the valley, about two and a half miles west of Logansville, on the north side of Fishing Creek. The land on which it is located originally belonged to the Wistar tract, and was purchased in 1834 by Dr. Samuel Strohecker, of Rebersburg, Centre Co. Subsequently it was divided and sold to different individuals, that portion on which the village stands passing into the hands of John and Ralph Boone, by whom lots were first laid out and sold in 1866. Hence the name "Booneville." The place now contains about thirty dwellings, some of them fine structures, among which are those of Reuben Moyer, Samuel Kahl, John B. Schrack, D. L. Bartges, J. L. Boone, William Strohecker, and B. F. Klepper. The only store is kept by Henry Wolf, who is the postmaster. The Grangers, in 1875, erected a fine hall opposite Wolf's Store, the first floor of which was used as a store-room. The grange is not now in operation. A shoe- and blacksmith-shop comprise the shops of the place. Surrounded as the village is by rich farming lands and pure air and water and a healthful climate, it affords a most desirable place of residence, where many of the neighboring farmers have settled on retiring from their farms, and erected fine houses in which to spend their days. Loganton, very near Booneville, was established in the year 1864. Pages 614 through 617 of the above book chronicle its history. The original name was Logansville. It is surrounded by Greene Township, Clinton County. Of the land of Logan and Greene Townships lie in the beautiful Sugar Valley. From June 21, 1839 these have been in Clinton County, PA, and records were recorded in the county seat at Lock Haven. From February 13, 1800 to June 21, 1839, the land was in Centre County and went by the various names of: Haines Twp. (1800-1817) Logan Twp. (1817-1840) Logan and Greene Twps. from 1840 The county seat of Centre County is at Bellefonte. >From 1772 to 1800, the land was in Northumberland County, PA (county seat: Sunbury, PA). Haines Township had existed from February, 1790. Prior to that time, it was Potter Township. As to societies and organizations, I recommend the Clinton County Genealogical Society, which occupies a P.O. Box in Castanea, PA. The president is Dan Reinhold, the vice-president Dave Wallace (who manages this list). I am a member and am affiliated with the cemetery project of the society. Hope this information is of some help to you!
