Good evening, everyone, Just a note to announce on behalf of the committee planning the 2001 "Building Family Bridges" Genealogy Workshop that the day-long event will be held on Saturday, June 2nd, 2001, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 842 Whitehall Road, State College, Pennsylvania. This gathering is held every three years in the area and this year it is co-sponsored by the Church and the Centre County Genealogical Society. All are welcome. I encourage all of you to visit the website to learn of the particulars: http://www.rootsweb.com/~pacentre/conf2001.htm There will be eighteen different classes scheduled throughout the day, from which persons can choose four to attend. Topics vary from teaching how to begin, searching various types of records, creating a family scrapbook, using the Internet and web, to basic instruction on the use of genealogy computer programs. There are also talks scheduled for various ethnic and regional groups, such as Pennsylvania research, New England research, and German research. In addition, the day will culminate with the opportunity to ask a panel of experts for advice on genealogical problems, an overview and opportunity to use the Family History Center, and information on the various GenWeb sites. Lunch will be provided. Registration is at 9:30 a.m. I encourage everyone to visit the website named above and to contact Nancy through the website for further information.
