I just wanted to share with everyone the great surprise Ken & I got this evening, when we opened our mail. We finally got the pension papers for Joseph Repetto from the Fed. Archives (4mo. wait) but it was worth it! From the papers, we learned that he was not a Pvt. as we thought, but a Corp., but the greatest thing was that his widow applied for widow's pension after his death, and had supplied their marriage document from WI. to the govt., which had Joseph's parents names on it! Unfortunately it did not have his mother's maiden name, only her given name. His dad was Jacob Repetto, and mother was Mary. It also gave us Joseph's 2nd wife's maiden name, and his 3rd wife's maiden name, her parent's names, and her deceased first husband's name and death date. Joseph's 3rd wife's name on the census was just Hepsie, and I can sure see why she was called Hepsie, as I cannot even pronounce her name. It was HEPHZIBAH. Ken, jokingly said "I wonder how many months it took her parents to dream up a name like that. " This was certainly $10 well spent. Dianne & Ken Croak
