I had a gg-uncle who moved there and I believe he had a couple daughters. I have never been able to find a trace of them and, since I live so very far away, I can't easily look for them. My gg-uncle's name was Girard Courter and he was a shoemaker. He was born in Blanchard, Liberty Township, Centre County, PA. He had daughters, one was Anna, I believe. Do you know anything about them? I believe a daughter may have been "postmistress" there at one time. Do you know anything about the history of Westport? 3. Westport is in Noyes Township. First settlement in Westport or "Kettle Creek" area was in 1785 when it was part of Pine Creek Township, Northumberland County. Northumberland County divided into parts.... Westport or "Kettle Creek" part of Chapman Township of Lycoming County.. Lycoming County broken apart... Clinton County established in 1839. Post Office of Westport established in 1850. Named as such due to "Kettle Creek" being taken by a PO at the head of the creek. Noyes Township was cut from Chapman Township in 1875. Most of this information was gleaned from "Historical View of Clinton County" by Maynard Hope this helps, Stephen Miller -----Original Message----- From: Carol Updegraff [mailto:cupdegraff@cvinternet.net] Sent: Wednesday, September 20, 2000 12:09 AM To: PACLINTO-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: Westport >Does someone know what township Westport is in?
