Carolyn, I am the director of the Clinton County Genealogical Society's cemetery project, and as such I have some inscriptions from a little cemetery in Beech Creek Township, Clinton County that may be of use to you. This cemetery is in an extremely overgrown and deteriorated condition, with most of the stones broken and fallen over. It has been recorded several times: by Adella Fink Spangler in June of 1930; by Vivian J. Welch in June 1982; and by myself and Jeanne Dunkle about 1996 or 1997. The name of this family plot is the David Cemetery. The inscribed stones located therein in my record are as follows: "Mary, wife of William Magee, born Aug. 14, 1813, died Jan. 4, 1872, aged 58 years, 5 months, and 20 days." "Robert Liggett, born Jan. 10, 1807, died Mar. 26, 1873, aged 66 years, 2 months, and 16 days." [There is a flag on this grave.] "Elmira, wife of Rob't Liggett, died April 5, 1853, aged 37 years, 10 months, and 6 days. Gibson, L. H." "Thomas Jefferson, son of James and Ellen Davids, born Mar. 14, 1859, died Jan. [other recordings give May, which is more likely correct] 15, 1860, aged 1 year, 2 months and 1 day." [There is a footstone T. J. D.] "Ellen, wife of James Davids, born Mar. 1 [Mar. 11 per other records], 1820, died ____ [Aug, per other records] 28, 1882, [aged 62 years, 5 months and 27 days, per other records.]" [There is a fotostone E. D.] "Joseph Carpenter, son of James and Ellen Davids, born Feb. 21, 1847, died Aug. 4, 1866, aged 18 years, 5 months, and 11 days." "Mary Emily, daughter of James and Ellen David, born Aug. 18, 1852, died April 30, 1872, aged 19 years, 8 months and 12 days." "Independence Virginia, daughter of James and Ellen David, born July 10, 1850, died April 14, 1871, aged 20 years, 9 months and 14 days." ==== Also said to be buried in this plot is the father of the family, James David, born 1810, died 1892. No stone has been located for him. Other stones which existed in this plot and were not located by myself and Jeanne Dunkle in our recording are as follows: "Margaret Jane David, born Oct. 16, 1842, died May 2, 1870, aged 33 years, 6 months and 10 days." "William Isaac FInch, son of James and Ella David, born Aug. 6, 1845, died Jan. 31, 1851." Benjamin Franklin Ligget, killed in the Spanish American War (1898), is said to be buried here in an unmarked grave. Daniel David, a Revolutionary soldier, is also said to be interred here.
