    3. Can anyone tell me if there were any newspapers published in the Lock Haven area in 1829 that might contain death notices? And if so, are they available anywhere? Thanks. BarbCB

    1. Re: Old Newspapers
    2. Barb, I, personally, do not know of any Clinton Co. papers that early. In 1829 part of Clinton County was still Centre County, and the other part was still Lycoming. There are a few papers surviving from Centre County dating back to 1821, and the death notices have been abstracted and put in book form. I imagine Lycoming Co. has newspapers dating back this early, also. Those would be on file in the James V. Brown library in Williamsport. Ross Library in Lock Haven has all of the known Clinton County papers on microfilm. What name are you searching? 1. Upcoming Meeting
    2. Good afternoon, listmembers, I am bringing you all a unique announcement that local members may wish to avail themselves of. The Centre County Genealogical Society, of which I am a member, is hosting a program by Dr. Gerald Eggert on Thursday, May 4th, at 7:30 p.m. at the LDS Family History Center, 842 Whitehall Road, State College, Pennsylvania. The subject deals with Dr. Eggert's new book, "Making Iron on the Bald Eagle." I have personally looked through this book and find it a fascinating and documented account of the personal, family, and work life of the employers and employees at the Curtin Iron Works in the 19th century. I am certain the topic will prove of interest to many. Please inform interested parties of this. A lot of Beech Creek-Bald Eagle Twp. residents had origins and kin throughout the rest of Bald Eagle Valley, which includes the Curtin area. I hope to see some of you at the meeting! 3. Thanks for the reply. The mother would have been over 60. Your software is probably correct. Rachael is age 2 female listed with Jesse and Elizabeth HALL, 1850 Clinton, PA, census, page 6, family 89. Rachael is probably a grandchild, but this will need some confirmation. Some other record will show Rachael's mother, I'm sure. I will remove Elizabeth JOHNSON HALL as her mother.
