    3. I think the name of it was "Old Fritz Cemetery". We were on a main road out of Lock Haven, that goes to Swissdale. Not far, after we past the Croak's Hollow Rd., we took a right (seems there was a little church that we turned by) and drove down this little road through the woods and past some houses and came to a clearing & there was a house on the right and the cemetery sat on the right, just across a drive from the house. One of the Englert's first wives was buried in there, & some markers had Fritz on them. Someone from the Lock Haven area, probably can give you much better directions than this. This Christian stayed in Germany with an uncle, until he died. Then followed his family on to Clinton Co.. His parents and siblings came in the 1829. (Parents were Christian & Eve Catherine Zeigler Myers) Christian Jr. came in 1847.

    3. Ken and Dianne, What cemetery is Christian Maier buried in? I doubt he was related to my Maria Maier who was born in Berks County. I think I have a will somewhere for a Christian Maier from around the middle 1800's. It is written in German and I haven't really deciphered it. Could this be your Christian? If you want to find out where Herrenberg is located try this address for locating towns in Europe: http://www.jewishgen.org/shtetlseeker/loctown.htm Joyce Diehl Ken & Dianne wrote: > For those of you who work on the Christian Myer genealogy, I think that > this is probably Christian Jr. We know that he traveled in 1847, so if > this is him, it gives his place of birth. 2. Ken & Dianne
    3. For those of you who work on the Christian Myer genealogy, I think that this is probably Christian Jr. We know that he traveled in 1847, so if this is him, it gives his place of birth. But I am not familiar with a district known as HERRENBERG.....but this was in 1847, so a German or Geography buff would probably have to tell us where this is. MAIER, JOHANN CHRISTIAN Born 29 Sept. 1819 birthplace: GUELTSTEIN district: HERRONBERG application date: Mar. 1847 North America #834626 (I also do not know what the numbers are at the bottom, would that be like passport number?) When we were in PA. a few years ago, we visited the cemetery where Christian Jr. is buried and this was the same way his name was spelled on his tombstone. If it is him, then the other children were most likely born same place, and church records there should hold more treasures. Anyone out there know what area of Germany this could be?

    1. Renovo Cemeteries
    2. Hello list, I am the chair of the Clinton County Genealogical Society Cemetery Project commitee. A number of dedicated volunteers have been working over the past year at the recording of the cemeteries of Chapman Township, Clinton County, and Renovo Borough, Clinton County. Credit must be given to Gloria and Jack Harbach, Joyce Diehl, Wendy LeVan, Gerri Eisenhauer, Dave Wallace, Vivian Welch, Steve and Barb Zimmerman, Jerry McCloskey, and myself for the copying of the inscriptions. (I hope I didn't omit anyone's name). We have all but two copied. Those we have recorded are: 1. McCloskey Family 2. Hyner (a/k/a Old Methodist) 3. North Bend 4. Youngwomanstown (a/k/a Old North Bend/Presbyterian) 5. Fairview at Farwell The only two which need recorded are the old St. Joseph Catholic on Drury Run (no longer active), and St. Joseph Catholic (still in use). We plan to inventory the first named cemetery, which is in a wooded area and is a habitat for snakes, during the month of October, when the weather will be cooler. The CCGS plans to have the cemeteries published in book form sometime in 2001. We have a publications committee working with the cemetery committee toward that end. Thanks are also given to one of our members, Bob Schadt, who has typed up the cemetery lists and compared them to his own database of Clinton County graves (some of which are unmarked), to add to what we have. At the present time I have the records of the above named cemeteries. The CCGS cemetery project vice-chair, Dave Wallace (the listowner), also has a copy, as does our typist and comparer, Bob Schadt. Both of them are well known on this list. Incidentally, if anyone is interested in helping with the cemetery project, drop me a note. 2. Hello listers, I know where at least four cemeteries are in the Renovo area. My husband was born and raised there. We went through the Hyner Cemetery at the base of the bridge that crosses the river. You have to cross the railroad tracks and drive along the river to get there. Then there is the St. Joseph cemetery on the main road. Fairview is in Farwell on the same side of the road as St. Joseph's. The old St Joseph's is in Drury's Run at the opposite end of town. So where is the North Bend cemetery...my husband has no idea? Ann in Florida

    3. Dear Jerry, You wrote: >Hi, > We the Clinton Co. Genealogical Society just finished coping the North >Bend Cemetery it is in North Bend just off Rt.120. Are there any Courter's/Corter's in the North Bend Cemetery? Is there a cemetery in Westport? If so, has it been "done" yet? Any other villiages "up the river" with cemeteries? I know that Girard Courter and family lived in Westport at some time or other before/around the turn of the twentieth century. I believe he may have had only female children and I can't seem to find any descendants, especially from this distance!! I hope to be back in the central PA area in a couple years when our mission service here in Alaska is done. Maybe then........................!! Thanks for all the work you do!!
