    1. A word from the list owner.
    2. Dave Wallace
    3. Please be advised I am the list owner/manager. Some recent complaints from one or more members to another unselfish member has caused some grief, and the unsubbing 0f that member. I am thouroughly disgusted at the actions that took place. I am the determining factor as to what is deemed a spam, or objectionable material, once it passes to the list. One has been deleted as her/his wishes to be removed from this annoyance have been granted. If any one else on this list does not like something, come to me about it. I have watched good people chased off a neighboring county list and now this one, due to someones determination of pesky email. Lou Cook provided a service to this list by allowing everyone to know a chat line was avail for an important part of Ill in-which a great number of Clinton County people migrated to. This pertained to CLINTON COUNTY. I would gladly take over the announcement to the list, but frankly I do not have the time, so now everyone must suffer from the actions of a few. Please members, if you are contacted personally by a listmember, and it is offending, please email me a copy of that persons email to you. I will unsub them stat. Sincerely, Dave Wallace

    3. Hi group, I just wanted to say that in all of my research of Clinton Co., PA., I have NEVER seen one of my own ancestors........but my ancestors came to America very early on, many bought land from Wm. Penn. They seem to have been everywhere else in PA, and guess where many of them migrated to. You are right, if you guessed IL. So I am in agreement that Lou's invites were welcomed. I look in Clinton Co. the most, because my husband was one of the lucky ones that his ancestors came to Clinton Co. & didn't budge after that. ha But a few of his ancestors' siblings migrated off, and it was to IL. such as the Summerson & Stout, Lashbough to name a few. I also invite any of you who wish to, to look at our webpages for any connections to your families. http://www.cowtown.net/users/kec/ There is a link to my own ancestors on the page listed above if you wish to look at the surname index in it also. Have a nice night! Dianne Croak

There will be all sorts of information, including much that I may not find helpful but that someone else will be thrilled with!! I have met more helpful people on these lists and have received more information than I could ever have dreamed. The notion that one aspect should "annoy" me is sad. I hope that Lou, and any others with information available on a regular basis, will continue to make it available to all of us so we can select what is, and delete what is not, helpful to each of us. 2. I echo the sentiments. Though I have had a hard time getting information regarding my ancestors, I have to commend someone such as Lou who is willing to give so much of his time in the interest of others. It's a shame that his notices are construed as spam by some - his notices sure don't look like some of the "spam" I've gotten as I've motored around the net. ~gina thomas patterson~ Visit my homepage at http://hometown.aol.com/ginaburningsky/myhomepage/business.html <A HREF="http://burningskyenterprises.com/">Burningskyenterprises.com</A>

    3. Dave, not only do I support this genealogy chat, but those participating have been very helpful for me in tracing the Seyler families that left Clinton County had headed to Stephenson County, IL! How lucky for anyone whose ancestors stayed in one place for all of time, <lol>! Although I have been busy and haven't been able to get to talk lately, I look forward to the reminder from my friends in Illinois. Thank you, Lou, for providing a venue that we can discover more about those who headed "west." Barb

    1. James Harrison Thomas b. May 1877
    2. Hi Listers - I am hoping someone may have some information for me regarding my grandfather & his parents. James Harrison Thomas was born 15 May 1877 supposedly in Renovo to parents John & Sarah or Marget (Dobbins) Thomas. We can find no record of him or his parents whatsoever until his marriage to my grandmother in May 1915 - Grants Pass, Josephine Co., Oregon. I've searched for years - can find absolutely nothing on his past life. I've checked the 1880 Clinton Co. census & found nothing there for me. If anyone has even a little tidbit that might help, I sure would appreciate it. Supposedly he was a devout Catholic, but I also checked with as many of the local archdiocese's I could and came back with zip.
