    3. Mr. Philips, I happened to notice you have subscribed to most of the Pa lists, and sent the same BERKHEISER/BURGHAUSER request to all of them. I have seen in the past when some one has done this their emails are considered as a spam. I am not complaing, I just wanted to warn you that you may have some problems with complaints against you. Rootsweb and I believe the Genweb projects have a query section for unknown counties, that your query could be better placed. I myself have recieved your email request 4 times now, as I subscribe to several county lists as well as manage this list. Your query request may go ignored as no locations or dates are present. These lists are designed to ask for and trade information within the county the list is named for. 3. I have recieved 9 of these that slipped through, I have also recieved 12 of the notices from the abuse center at rootsweb. I am the list owner, and I am doing all I can to get them to stop, It is some company in the UK. Please bear with us while we attempt to end the spams. None of enjoy this, but when these companies do this, we cannot do much from home. Lets just hope Rootsweb can end it. 1. WARNER Genesee County "Overseer of the Poor" WARNER (KMO)
    2. Hello All, I am asking for any help anyone can give me regarding the dead-end I have hit regarding my WARNER roots in Genesee County, Michigan. The family I am seeking is that of WASHINGTON WARNER and his wife Mary (unknown maiden name). In the 1860 census, three of their children are shown: GEORGE (1847), LYDIA 1850) and EMORY BRADFORD WARNER ( my great-grandfather) (1852). All three were born in Flushing Township (Genesee County, MI). By 1880, Emory Warner has married CAROLINE PERKINS, whose family hailed from Jefferson County, New York and settled in Hemlock (Saginaw County), MI. Washington WARNER's occupation is listed as a shoemaker, a trade carried on by his sons. The 1860 census records also show that Washington and Mary were born in New York, but the 1880 census shows them being born in Pennsylvania. A book titled "The History of Genesee County" (MI) written around 1890, shows Washington Warner listed under "Overseers of the Poor 1848. There are Warner references in Eaton and Shiawassee Counties, MI. Family lore from my 95 year old cousin says The Warner family in Pennsylvania might have been from the Philadelphia or Pittsburgh areas, with a reference to "Pennsylvania Dutch," which surprised me because I have been told my Warner's emigrated from either England or Ireland. Yes, I'm confused too! Thank you for taking the time to read all of this. Any information will be 100% more than I have right now. Can I sound any more pitifully desperate? 2. Hi folks, I don't have my township chart here with me at present, but I know that there is still a Halfmoon Township here in Centre County. I think Worth and Taylor may have come from Halfmoon -- considering that, that may solve a Hillard problem I have (they didn't move, the township just moved under their feet! ha!). I will have to check my records and get back to you. Justin

    2. Hi This is the directions the woman gave of where it once was. Go over the Howard Divide road from Rt 150 . You will come to a dead end at the end of Howard Divide. You will turn right on Marsh Creek road in the direction of Christian Romola Cemetery but you will not go that far. There is a road on the left that is Orviston Mt. road. At the Junction of Orviston Mt.and Marsh Creek Road is where there was a post office and general store that was owned by the Robbs. It was called Slabtown because a sawmill was the industry there in that area .What is the area now ? Laura

    1. Half Moon Township, Centre County
    2. A note from the "Commemorative Biographical Record of Central Pennsylvania" (an out of copyright book): "Half Moon Township later became Worth Township."

    3. Thanks for the info. We were at the library this summer & didn't realize they had those records. As for the book, nothing like a deadline to get me moving. I will get it to you this week. Beverly

    3. Could someone in the Lock Haven area please check with Ross Library and get the # of the microfilm which Justin speaks of below, and post it to this list. We too, have had the same problem with trying to get death info. from courthouse on deaths before 1906. The exact title of the film would be helpful too. Then we can do like Justin suggested and order it from local LDS. Dianne JKHouser84@aol.com wrote: Now, on to the Death Certificates. I know that they are in the Clinton County Courthouse, Officer of Register and Recorder, from 1893 to 1905. The Ross Library in Lock Haven also has the books on microfilm (which I believethey somehow got through the LDS). Thus, you could try the courthouse again, the Ross Library, or obtain the microfilms through your local LDS church. > > Hope this is of help. > > Justin > > ==== PACLINTO Mailing List ==== > Clinton County is the home of the PIPER CUB > > ============================== > FREE UNLIMITED Web space at RootsWeb! > Any subject: genealogy, computers, pets! 3. I just sent to the Clinton County Courthouse for a death certificate from 1901 & it was returned saying it had to be sent to New Castle as all records are there. Has there been a change? I thought before 1906 they were at the county level. I wonder how many folks are missing the little tidbits of info at the bottom of the Clinton Co Mail List. I, for one, don't scroll down if I can read the whole message. Just happened to notice them the other day. Beverly Carter tcarter@execpc.com
