    3. Thank you for your response.I see what you are saying about the location.I got this information off the net thru' familysearch.org.I haven't been able to download the file to investigate it further but I do understand what you mean.It was confusing to me but then I don't know the county & wasn't able to despute it.The person in question's birthdate is 1886 so could there have been some renaming of the area?I'm stumped on this one. Thanks again.Beverly ----- Original Message ----- From: Carol Updegraff <cupdegraff@mail.itol.com> To: <PACLINTO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, January 05, 2000 10:34 PM Subject: Re: WINGARD - CHALPHANT > >There is not a "Dayton" Clinton County Pa, that I am aware of. 3. Hi all list members, I personally want to wish you all a joyous and prosperous New Year. I have been receiving communications about mainframe shutdowns, for the y2k changeover. I believe this list will be down from 4pm today to maybe sometime Sunday. This list is through Rootsweb, this will also effect the Clinton County Genealogy Webpage, as far as the query system and any links to Rootsweb. The main page for Cl. Co. should be up. Below is that latest communication; "The following servers are shutting down temporarily for the date rollover: RootsQuest.Com USGenNet.Org USRoots.Com USGenWeb.Com USIGS.Org ALHN.Org This came through from Jerry Dill this evening. Estimated down time is from Friday at 4:00 P.M. MST until noon on Sunday, January 2, 2000. Some USGW pages are housed on these servers so please note that they will be not available until after noon on Sunday. Best wishes for a happy New Year! Carol Hepburn"

    3. Hi Folks! Found this listing on EBAY. They are not mine and I have no further information. Hope they belong to someone on the list! Three tintypes that each measure 2 1/4 inches by 3 1/2 inches. There is writing on each to identify them. The couple is identified as Emery Black and wife; the two women are Helen and Etta Black. The name of the lone woman is smudged. These were from old pictures purchased from the North Bend/ Renovo area of Clinton County, PA. The Blacks however, are listed as cousins and may have been from Wayne Co. PA Item #227393795 Mike Wennin Come Visit the Cameron County Genealogy Project! http://www.pa-roots.com/cameron

    3. Hi all I recently joined a few PA lists so if you receive duplicates of this message, I apoligize. I'm searching for information on a John BOWEN, b. 1786, d 1845 married Rachel FEURT in 1815 and had at least the following four sons: Gabriel, Daniel, Thomas & James. I have been told that John was born PA but I have not been able to confirm that. Confirming his place of birth is my primary goal right now. Finding his parents would be a wonderful bonus! I've been searching for old John for a few years now and he appears to be my brick wall. He and Rachel were married in Scioto County, OH. John is burried in the Bowen cemetery at Vales Mill (Vinton County, OH) as are many descendents. If anyone has any information on this lost family of Bowen's, it would be greatly appreciated. We have a ton of information on John and Rachel's descendents, but nothing prior to them. Thanks for your help. Carolyn Bowen McGuire

    1. census
    2. Dave Wallace
    3. Hi everyone. If anyone is interested in transcribing any census for Clinton County, please let me klnow. Several volunteers are working on the 1870, due to the omissions, and the errors in the CD version of the census for Clinton County. They have provided me with the census, in text format, and I have posted it to the Clinton County Genealogy site. I also plan to contribute it to the PAGENWEB project, as soon as I learn how. Even if you have loose pages of census copied for 1870, and would care to type the info in and send it to me, I could add it to the index already on line. We have the census for 1850 and the index for 1870(almost complete) on line at http://www.kcnet.org/~history/, with many thanks to Fred and Anna Snyder, Suzanne Rice, Mary Gummo, and Ken & Dianne Croak. Their painstaking work is appreciated. Family stories and news articles can be contributed this way also, if need be I will create a new section. Also there are 1104 queries, 596 obits, and 17 biographies, posted to the named sites. If you have Bios typed in from Beers Comm Bio Record, Linn's History of Centre and Clinton Counties, or other old out of print history books, please consider contributing them to the Bio's section of the site. These books are well out of copywrite protection, and would be a welcome edition. This site has had 11127 visitors since I put the counter on April 21, 1999. Very nice traffic for a small county. Chances are high you can make some new family connections. The Query, bios, obits, etc sites are linked to Rootsweb, and are searchable world wide. I wish all subscribers a very Merry Christmas and a super Genealogical New Year, may God Bless everyone. Dave Wallace, PACLINTO-L list manager, Webmaster http://www.kcnet.org/~history/, Vice President, Clinton County Genealogical Society.

    3. HI! Family and Friends! If you have not been to the site lately...come check us out....we are all decorated for the Holidays! We now have readings from 13 Cemeteries including the huge Newton Cemetery! Forty Five Obituaries and census records for some townships from 1820-1870. We are on the grow! We have some GREAT people making some GREAT contributions! Remember, parts of Elk, Clinton, Potter and McKean counties became Cameron County in 1860. For those of you searching in these counties, maybe some of your ancestors "disappeared" in Cameron County at that time! I have also found many families who migrated here from the Tri-County area in the 1840-1860 era, possibly following the building of the railroad. More obits, census records and cemetery readings are coming soon...keep checking back. Use our handy Search Engine to see if your relatives are on the site. (the Newton Cemetery listing has not yet been indexed by the Search Engine....it is alphabetical though!) Sign up for the mailing list to keep up with the changes. Somehow our counter got reset...I was shooting for 2000 hits by 2000...oh well! We were only a few hundred from that goal! Let us know if we (I got a mouse in my pocket!) can help you with your family search! Please sign the guest book and let us know you stopped by! Happy Hunting!
