They have the following children: Louis (18), Clark (9), Bertha (6) and Winfield (2). This McCartney family appears to be in Pawnee, Smith, Kansas in 1880: J. F. McCartney (48) born in PA, he is a farmer. Wife is Ada (45) also born in PA. The following children are with them: Bertha (16), Winfield (13) and Nora (9). Bertha and Winfield born in PA, Nora born in IA. Clark McCartney now 20 is also living in Pawnee, Kansas, he was born in PA. He is a blacksmith. It would appear that this Jeremiah took his family west sometime after the 1870 Census as Nora, daughter was born in 1871 in IA. or on this family? In the 1880 Census of Karthaus, there is a Jeremiah McCartney and Anna. He is 38 and she 27, Living wiith them are the following children: Bertha B. (6), John C. (5), Minnie (2) and Belle (1). Jeremiah's father born in Ireland, mother in Vermont. Anna born in PA as were her parents.
