Hello Leah! Your last name nearly jumped off the page for me. I went past the old Waring homestead outside Morrisdale, Clearfield County about 2 months ago. I used to work at Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport PA with Tom Shoff. His father was a Funeral Director - in Phillipsburg, if I remember correctly. The Waring connection is that Tom is related to Fred Waring, the great band leader. I don't think Tom is a grandson - I think Tom's Mother was perhaps Fred Waring's sister? Anyway, the Waring name brought back some very good memories, even though I'm not able to contribute anything to Maryann's interest in where the County Jail was located. .........Grant Berry "Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around." It is an old stone or block building and I believe that it was there for many years.
