Pennsylvania Dutch "volk" are German, not Dutch! This term probably comes from the German language word for German: "Deutsch." The farthest back I can get with this name is in the 1830 census, Earl Township, Lancaster County~~Jacob Clouner/Clowner. They were apparently german, but called themselves Pennsylvania Dutch.
