Yes, Doreen they are related to us via Pricilla Bloom who married John Norris and they had 16 children. John and Pricilla were the grandparents of Reuben Whitaker's wife, Martha Mertie who is my great grand mother and your gggrand mother. Pricilla was the daughter of Isaac Bloom and Sarah Apgar married March 05/1803. She was the granddaughter of William Bloom(Blum) and Mary Mettler from Germany. I have a copy of the Shaw Genealogy. As noted William Bloom had 12 children and the Blooms are related to most of the older Clearfield County families. Several county histories detail the problems three of William Bloom's children had when he left to return to the rest of the family then still in Centre County hoping to get back before winter set in. Winter set in and the young man James per account went to live on his own or with the Indians. This left his sister Elizabeth to manage with her younger brother and this brother was a handful according to the story. Elizabeth later married Daniel Odgen's son Matthew.
