Hi Beth, Interesting about McCartney, Pa. I was born and raised in Clearfield Cty. (have been gone for many years but come back frequently.) My mothers family were McCartans, very proud of their Irish ancestry. Because of this, I think I would have heard of Mccartney, Pa. Have some old maps and will check it out. Do you know what township it is in? Sue Carns.
McCartney is (or was) in Jordan township in the extreme east corner of the township. That's according to "Pennsylvania Atlas and Gazetteer" copyrighted 1996 by DeLorme.
