HI List, Several weeks ago there was discussion about the fire that consumed Brisbin in 1894. I do apologize for assuming that the cemetery markers did not burn. I found an article today that my sister gave me several years ago about the cemetery and found it very interesting . This article was published in the Clearfield Progress on April 17, 2002. I will summarize it here: The cemetery has approximately 11,000 grave sites with over 8,000 burials. Mr. Richard Marien's father was the original caretaker of the cemetery. The original maps of the cemetery were saved from the fire because one of the members had the book out of the area that day. The ledger dates back to 1892. Many of the wooden crosses were destroyed by the fire making it difficult to pinpoint gravesites. That sums up the part about the fire. If anyone wants the entire article I can scan it for you.
