Donna Ireland has graciously granted permission to transcribe "The Clearfield Cookbook" which was compiled and published by the Junior Auxiliary of the Clearfield Hospital. All of the recipes were donated by people in the community, and the name of the donor appears on every recipe. Unfortunately, there is no date on it, but I can tell it is quite old. Primarily because no ingredient amounts are given for the main ingredients, only for things like flour, salt, milk, etc. Donna prepared a name index to the recipes so you can see if your grandmother's (or great-grandmother) favorite recipe is included. Some of the recipes have great sounding names, e.g., Delicate Cake, Perfection Salad, Orange Puffs, and Date Kisses; while others have intriguing names: Suet Pudding, Scotch Cake, Mandolins, Hickory Nut Jumbles, etc. If you would like to help transcribe this treasure, please send me an email with you name and snail mail address. Thanks to all who volunteer. Alice J. Gayley Coordinator, Clearfield County USGenWeb Project http://www.pa-roots.com/~clearfield/ Pennsylvania in the Civil War http://www.pa-roots.com/~pacw/
