    3. It is becoming increasingly more difficult to find a good quality digital camera with an eye type viewfinder. Most all now just have the LCD rear screen. These screens are larger and more anti-glare and also have more auto-brightness adjustment. These cameras are so small now and compact that I can shade the viewfinder if I have to with my hand and still have complete control over the camera. I am more concerned with "shutter lag time". earlier cameras had upwards of 1 second lag, which made taking photos of moving children difficult. Today's cameras have mostly speeded up this lag to hundredths of even thousandths of a second. Nikon, Canon and Panasonic are superb with fast shutters. Don't get carried away with mega-pixels. Anything over 5 mp is fine, the 10mp and 12mp are a waste of disk space on a small handheld point & shoot camera. Even professionals rarely keep photos in this high resolution. National Geographics, for instance wants pictures submitted to them at 3.2mp. They may ask for a higher resolution later, but even then 8mp is all they have ever asked me for. Most cameras have 3x optical zoom, Canon has 5x, Nikon makes a medium priced camera(<$300) with 7x and Panasonic has a beauty with 10x optical zoom, under <$400. I personally use the Panasonic. Most all cameras use the SD memory cards. they are inexpensive and plentiful and very fast writing. Olympus, Fuji and Sony use thier own proprietary cards which tend to run more money and are harder to find. Most camera shops have the ability to let you snap some candid shots at the store. Buy the camera that feels good and you like the way it takes pictures. I have been known to shop the camera shops to determine the model I want, then shop the web to find the best price. But what ever you buy, read the book and learn the features of your camera. The thing that bugs you about the camera could be as simple as a small menu adjustment. Happy shooting! I also carry a GPS with me when grave hunting. I mark each graves location with the GPS so that anyone in the future can walk right up to the grave and not wander for hours in a large (or small) cemetery Bruce Gray Semi-pro, very lucky, wildlife photographer. _________________________________________________________________ i’m is proud to present Cause Effect, a series about real people making a difference. http://im.live.com/Messenger/IM/MTV/?source=text_Cause_Effect
