I'm trying to get info on when my CALHOUNS arrived in the US and where my McKENZIE is from. Robert CALHOUN b. 1804 Scotland, wife Elizabeth b. 1812 Scotland and son Robert Jr. b. 1837 left Scotland in 1837. They gave birth to their second son George in Nova Scotia in 1842. Their third child Alex b. 1845 was born in PA. I'm trying to find out where in Scotland they came from. This is all I have on this family: Census 1860 Bald Eagle, Clinton County PA--Robert Sr, wife Eliz, 7 children This is what I have on their son Robert, my great grandfather: Census 1860 Bald Eagle, Clinton County PA 7 PA Cavalry Military Service from Oct 1861 to May 1865--Robert Jr. Enlisted 1861 (3 mo. term) in Pottsville PA Enlisted 1861 (3 yr. term) in Troy, PA, residence listed as Schuylkill Co., PA Census 1880 Rush Twp, Centre Co., PA--Rob't Jr. Census 1890 Morris Twp., Clearfield Co. PA--Rob't Jr. Census 1900 Morris Twp., Clearfield Co. PA--Rob't Jr. Robert and Margaret had a daughter named Priscilla (known as Pearl) that died in a fire before she turned 40. I would be interested in an account of the fire (if there is one). Robert married a woman named Margaret McKENZIE, there is a notation in an 1895 photo album next to a photo of that says "Margaret's mother, Houtzdale". She could have been in Tioga, Schuylkill, or Centre Counties, and was related to a woman named Kathryn McKenzie (R & M's daughter Grace filled out a postcard to Kathryn in 1911 but never mailed it). Many thanks to all who have tried to help me find these people, and thanks to those who continue to do so.
