Best to all, Jacquelyn (ERHARD) BEAN ============= 23 Sep 1994 Marshall -- Services for Kenneth L. ERHARD, 71, of Marshall [TX], will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Travis Street Chapel of Sullivan Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Buchanan officiating. Internment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. Mr. ERHARD died at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, 1994, at his home after a sudden illness. He was born Dec. 21, 1022, in Curwensville, Pa., of Clearfield County, the son of Ernest Edmund ERHARD and Berva (MILLER) ERHARD. He attended Curwensville public schools and many technical schools while in the service. He had retired as a hotel manager and had served as a postal clerk in Arvada, Colo. He was a World War II Veteran serving in the Air Force from Nov. 27, 1941 through Aug. 13, 1954. Mr. Erhard was a life member of the Ex-Prisoners of War, Disabled American Veterans Organization, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the historical 44th Bombers Group and the 67th Bombardment Squadron. He was shot down over Rouen, France on March 8, 1943 and was repatriated on May 2, 1945, in Braunau Woods, Austria. He was incarcerated at Stalag 7A in Moosburg, Germany and Stalag 17B of Krems, Austria. He was commander of the Dallas Metroplex Chapter of American Ex-P.O.W.s and was Secretary/Treasurer of the Texas Ex-Prisoners of War. He served in the Pacific Campaign after WWII in Okinawa during the historic B29s flyover of the Philippines during their independence and was involved during the Berlin Air Lift. He was president of the Postal Union of Arvada, Colo. from 1965-1966. Survivors include his wife, Gloria (HOYE) ERHARD of Marshall; a daughter and son-in-law; and three grandsons [names withheld for privacy], all of Marshall. Family visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Sullivan Funeral Home on Travis Street. [NOTE: Kenneth's ashes were interred in Arlington on 26 Oct 1994 with military honors] ============= 01 June 2005 Mrs. Gloria ERHARD died at her residence in Marshall [Texas] on Sunday, May 29, 2005. She was born April 28, 1923, to the late Clarence Howard HOYE and the late Lillian Jewel (BARKER) HOYE in Dallas. She received her public schooling in Marshall and graduated from St. Mary's Business Academy in Marshall. Gloria was a life member of the American Ex-Prisoners of War organization in Dallas, life member of the D.A.V. Auxillary, member of Stalag XVII-B organization, charter member of the Order of the Amaranth -- F&AM Lodge #165 in Lake Charles, La., and a holder of the Wives and Daughters Degree -- F&AM Lodge #165 in Lake Charles. Her husband preceded her in death in 1994. She is survived by her only child and son-in-law; three grandsons and granddaughter-in-law [names withheld]; cousins [names withheld]; lifelong friend [name withheld]; and ex-sister-in-law [name withheld] of College Station, Pa. A private memorial service for the immediate family will be held Friday, June 3, 2005, in Marshall. Gloria's ashes will be interred in Arlington National Cemetery along with those of her husband, Kenneth L. ERHARD. [NOTE: Gloria's ashes were interred into Kenneth's grave at Arlington on 22 July 2005 in a simple civil ceremony]
